Comparison of stock 2019 Tacoma TRD Off-road suspension and the Eibach Pro Truck lift kit and Icon 3-leaf add a leaf. This is an Eibach Pro Truck Lift comparison & review showing Tacoma stock vs lifted suspension setup.
The Eibach Pro Truck Kit for the Tacoma provides a stiffer, but more controlled ride for the 3rd Gen Tacoma. The Eibach Tacoma lift is a great budget option that provides superior performance both on and off road. This is considered the Eibach Stage 1 lift as there is now an Eibach Stage 2 or Eibach 2.0 Coilover lift kit.

I got the Eibach Pro Truck setup on my 2022 f150 and have a similar experience. The stock suspension was adequate, but was bouncier, and had much more body roll entering and exiting parking lots. The Eibachs are still very comfortable and smooth, but have a more confident feel. I am taking a road trip and will be doing some dirt road exploring in a few weeks and hope they continue to impress.

Awesome video, will definitely be going with Eibach in the future with my taco 👍👍 I've run their products before (Pro kit springs on one Hyundai Sonata, one mk1 Miata, and one s13, and another s13 was using their Sportline springs) and have been thoroughly satisfied. Great bang for buck in my previous experience, pretty much the definitive 'stage 1' suspension upgrade. Eventually I'd like to replace all rubber bushings with polyurethane as it helps the suspension move more freely (less of pre-load binding than with rubber). I get a lot of bumpsteer in my 3rd gen, where hitting a bump will knock the steering wheel around, and hopefully I can work it out.

What I noticed is that with the eibach setup the fender (and truck?) is clearly affected more by the bumps while the stock setup isn't really affected much at all. To me it's clearly visible that the stock setup is absorbing the bumps better. Maybe my misunderstanding of suspension is throwing me off...are my eyes lying?
@KnightWheelsMedia
@KnightWheelsMedia 3 жыл бұрын
Good observation... I can explain haha So there is more vibration with the Eibach kit for two reasons. First, I have my shims on the rear leaf suspension installed wrong so it causes vibration at low speed. Second, the Eibach kit is stiffer in general so the plastics move a little more. The GoPro mount may have actually played into the difference as well. The stock suspension is a lot softer so it soaks up the little bumps better. However, the large bumps produce A LOT of body roll/movement over big bumps. So with the Eibach kit, it's a little stiffer (feels nicer/more controlled in turns) but when hitting bumps at speed it soaks them up better without you bouncing around in the cab too much. Kinda hard to explain, but the difference is night and day when you actually feel it.
@snooka2484
@snooka2484 3 жыл бұрын
@@KnightWheelsMedia No more slowing down to a crawl to avoid the excessive body roll and feeling like you're going to lose control due to oversteer and probably less floating feeling on the highway over and near bridges, I imagine. I understand now. Is there anything that can be done about small bump compliance? In mountain biking fine tuning the suspension makes a huge difference. Rebound and suspension travel and its tuning makes all the difference in the world on downhill, even uphill and small bump compliance. Those tuning options would be nice to have. Thanks for clarifying, though!🙏🤙

Where did you purchase this kit and what can I expect to pay? I live in Alaska and regularly see -25 to -40 temps in the winter. How does this kit perform in cold weather? Bilsteins are tested and have proven themselves to perform in cold temps. That is my biggest fear is purchasing this set in the summer and everything is hunky dory until winter and the performance of the kit falters due to the extreme cold. Otherwise solid video, thanks for sharing. I was considering going with an OME kit as well but now you got me considering this kit as well.
@KnightWheelsMedia
@KnightWheelsMedia 4 жыл бұрын
For the kit that includes front coilovers and rear struts, you'll pay around $500-600 depending on if you can catch a sale. I also bought an Icon 3-leaf AAL for the rear which was another $200 or so. You'll also either need to reuse your stock top mounts or buy some aftermarket. I live in Florida so I can't really speak to the cold weather aspect, but Eibach is a reputable brand that has a long history of creating vehicle suspension. They are now trying to break into the off-road suspension market. You can find Amazon links in the video description for the lift kit and the top mounts.

@Beeliner12
@Beeliner12 4 жыл бұрын
It seems to me that it would cause the people in the cab to be thrown around because the Eibach suspension isn't taking the brunt of the impacts, but the stock suspension definitely is. Those impacts have to transfer somewhere and if it isn't into the shocks/suspension, then the entire truck is absorbing it. It looks like it would make the ride much rougher.
@KnightWheelsMedia
@KnightWheelsMedia 4 жыл бұрын
Beeliner12 You’re definitely not wrong. The Eibach suspension is definitely stiffer but it’s less bouncy. So when you go over a speed bump or similar the nose of the truck isn’t bouncing up & down multiple times as it would with the stock suspension. So I can go over larger bumps at a higher rate of speed without feeling out of control. There’s a trade off because the Eibach suspension is more of a jolt when you hit a bump and it recovers quickly whereas the stock suspension is less jarring but doesn’t recover as quickly so there’s residual movement and you bounce a couple times. Stock suspension also has more body roll in turns and nose dive while braking. Kinda comes down to personal preference but the main reason to upgrade suspension is for off-road use, where the Eibach kit shines.

My suggestion is to be realistic with yourself about what you REALLY need. How often are you off roading? What type of off roading are you doing? What do you want out of the upgrade? All questions to consider. If you just want some lift with increased performance for the few off road trips you take per year, go with the cheaper option. If you're bombing it though whoops in a desert every weekend, go with the more expensive option.

Awesome video! Quick question, the rear shocks say they only supports up to a 1 inch lift. You’re AAL springs are 1.5 inch. Does that mean you are losing potential travel? Is it bad for the shock? What if I want to lift the back 2 inches?
@KnightWheelsMedia
@KnightWheelsMedia 3 жыл бұрын
I haven't had any issues with it personally. I'd imagine you could risk blowing the shock, but I feel like that'd only be in extreme circumstances. The shock likely limits it a little. I'd say reach out to Eibach about it and ask since you wanna go more lift in the rear.

Did you have to trim anything for rubbing when you got the new tires?
@KnightWheelsMedia
@KnightWheelsMedia 3 жыл бұрын
Kinda. I did have some rubbing, so I used a heat gun to push in the inner fender liner and that mostly solved it. Then doing the viper cut (see my other video) completely fixed it. My wheels are 17x8.5" 0 offset and tires are 275/70R17. I believe they rubbed because they were 0 offset and stick out a bit further than the stock wheels. If your wheels have a positive offset, you probably won't rub or at least not as much as I did.

How is slow speed driving tho??? Does it vibrate the steering wheel or make you feel.the road alot more????
@KnightWheelsMedia
@KnightWheelsMedia 2 жыл бұрын
Overall the drive is good. It is a little bit stiffer but I think it's a good tradeoff for the overall performance. To me, the stock setup was just way too bouncy/floaty, and super rough off road.

Nope! The kit comes with front coils and rear suspension. You'll need some type of rear lift though whether it's a block/spacer lift or an add a leaf.

I don't think this will work. If I remember correctly, you need a longer shock body to work with the Eibach springs.

Thank you for the reply also one more thing is there a reason why you preferred going with the eibach lift instead of the Bilstein adjustable suspension there around the same price of believe. I ask because I am between the two lifts Myself and I just would like to know your point of view.
@KnightWheelsMedia
@KnightWheelsMedia 4 жыл бұрын
CARLOS for sure! I went with the Eibach for a couple of reasons. First being I heard a lot of good reviews about its ride quality. I also got a really good deal on the kit because I bought around Black Friday so it ended up being cheaper for the Bilstein. Either way, I think you’ll be happy with whatever kit you get. Just expect a slightly stiffer ride (in a good way)
