@driftx2 I suppose if you pretty much are driving dirt trails, sure lockers might not be needed. They are most definitely useful for rock crawling pretty much anything other than dirt roads.

Taco has torque vectoring so rear lockers and the disconnect up front will likely be plenty. I have a deposit down on a TRD Pro. ZR2s are junk and cheaply made.

I have owned both the ZR2 and the Tacoma, and I liked them both. Have to confess I liked my old Off-Road Tacoma more than my old ZR2, but the tides have turned. The new ZR2 is a perfect blend of comfort and off-road capability in a much nicer exterior package. 💯

Just like every other midsized truck in the segment. I like a truck personally not a fancy truck i don't use them features, I went and bought the 3rd gen Tacoma before they turbocharged it. I'm happy AF and mine is the total basic 📦 less shit to break later. There's no way I'd be happy with these new trucks with all this goofy technology! Take a look at Andre from "TFL truck" he bought a '23 trail Boss already had a problem being bricked out! Like 7,000 miles. Technologies all fine and dandy until you start to have problems with it when you need. Not my 🍵 of Joe.

No joke here. I own a 2017 Colorado diesel. Switched from a Taco to the Colorado because of the Duramax. Range is awesome … but, 6 years later, I have no heat in the cab. $4,500 to fix it … some odd diverter part buried in the dash … requires full dash removal. On a truck with only 55K miles. This new Tacoma design and this hybrid motor will bring me back. No BS issues on Toyotas period.

As a multiple Toyota and Honda owner, I can say this with confidence.. Japanese engineering is hard to surpass when it comes to crafting cars and trucks. Their meticulous attention to detail and adherence to rigorous standards are commendable. While Japanese vehicles may not always win in terms of aesthetics, their reliability is unmatched. In essence, if you prioritize appearance, opt for an American-engineered vehicle. However, if you value quality, reliability, and your Wallet lol, Japanese vehicles are the way to go, any time of day.

I would love a trailhunter 6ft bed, no snorkel or Bed Rack so I can put a camper on it and not feel like I wasted money on that Bed Rack. As for the tires, Toyota has commented previously that the tires they choose are for NVH and to avoid negative reviews in the first 6 months of ownership and that off-roaders will but the tires they like to use anyways regardless of which truck they buy. The only thing that bums me out on the Tacoma is the lack of rear air conditioning for my dogs. I won’t be getting a new truck until next year so I’ll be checking out the entire segment before making a decision

My ZR2 lasted 5 years without any issues except: - The headlights were a joke. I believe I read that the previous-gen Colorado has the worst headlights sold in North America. - 8 speed had a class action lawsuit against it, one of the worst transmissions ever I ultimately sold it because I couldn’t safely drive it in my climate due to the transmission shifting improperly without throttle and causing wheel spin. But if those things are fixed here, would LOVE to get one again…

I do think the Trailhunter is the coolest version of the new Tacoma, but I feel like that thing is way more than even a Bison equipped ZR2. You can get a ZR2 for a well equipped Tacoma Offroad too so I think the ZR2 is the bigger value even though that Trailhunter has some really cool gimmicky stuff on it like the air compressor and exterior bed lights.

The ZR2 is more capable. The TurboMax can be tuned stock and make 350whp and over 500lb ft of torque on 93 octane and still hold the power reliably. Trifecta has a milder option if you don't want the extra power and just want a healthy dosage of torque and some horsepower

I’ve had 4 tacos and currently own a 19 ZR2. The ZR2 is hands down the most off road capable truck I’ve owned but something tells me it just is t as reliable as I found the tacos to be but so far it’s been amazing. Last 2 tacos had sc on them and no issues and lots of fun. Getting ready to put an sc on the ZR2 and as quick as the sc 15 taco was (380hp) I’m thinking the ZR2 is gonna b quicker.

Chevy looks hella buff💪not a fan of all the technology inside tho... I wish my truck had the 🪨 rails/frame sliders & all the skid plates! That's a really 🆒 addition I added the catalytic converter transmission 🛡️ so that tweakers can't get to it lol. Only problem you add all those rock rails and it eats into your payload real quick

Don’t know why Toyota is allergic to front lockers. That and long travel for the top trims would take it to the next level. But I’d still go the taco route personally and just throw a front locker in there if I had the funds.

I own 23 Tacoma and would go with the Chevy if I had to choose because it is more capable just from lockers alone and not to mention higher articulation etc. Tacoma basically gave us the same old and jumped the price.

I’m a huge fan of technological advances but personally I don’t want the majority of the things I need in a screen. I don’t trust technology THAT much. But that’s just me. It’s a hard choice. Love the look of the taco but I can’t help thinking there’s a a lot you could save money on by doing yourself. But Toyota is known for reliability. Chevys got some good things going for that ZR2 and I’d prefer the less is more look definitely. I’d just want it to make sure I get from point A to point C without stopping at B. But I’m not even looking into buying a truck yet so these are just my thoughts 😂😂

Why would you not want a fuel cap seem like a great way to get dirt water debris in the tank
@jreyman
@jreyman 5 ай бұрын
This is my thought also. Engineers apparently have never been in wet muddy conditions. Had to put fuel in a former employers (non GM) truck with the then new capless system. It was full of dirt and no way to get it all out, so some dirt went in. Also, in wet weather, I;m sure some water pools there, and ends up in the fuel, too. Capless is a really dumb idea.
