Meanwhile here in Russia, we do similar trips with maybe 1% of the cost of all that on our Lada Niva with 4 jerry cans of fuel and a jerry can of vodka, a bit of food, an axe, rifle and some clothes... 800 km trip in 4 days with no problem at all. Everything including the vehicle costs maybe 6.000 USD in total...

With the fuel setup I really realize how useful and convenient a large fuel tank is. 40gal needed for your trip, and with the 36gal tank on my F-150, I'd only need one extra can.

You likely consume more fuel then usually off road so plan with two extra cans for a trip like that and maybe even an additional spare. Second have not only one fire extinguisher have two small one's like he had and a large one. Maybe get some more water too.

All these fancy gadgets are cute and all, but I grew up doing it old school. Throw all of your gear in the back of a 3/4 ton truck and just go. Food, water, cooler, wood, tent, no problem. These fancy boys and the “overlanding” thing has gotten out of hand 😆

We just figured out the shower system, got the little pop up privacy tent, and pool noodle around the bucket top as toilet for the wife. It does need to be expensive it just needs to work and save space while keeping everyone comfortable and happy. It is fun figuring out systems that work. The planning, prepping and building is part of the journey so I appreciate you sharing.

Regarding fuel, I'd recommend fitting an auxiliary fuel tank underneath the truck in the same place as the stock spare tire goes. Remove that and you can fit a large tank. We did that and along with a 2" body lift it enabled us to have close to 70 gallons of fuel. All underneath the truckbed in a self-contained system. Useful when snow wheeling in a 44" modified Tacoma in Iceland.

Gat a Sawyer squeeze water filter for emergencies. You can get water from streams, springs, and puddles. I go backpacking and never have dishes to do. I package all my food in 1 pint Freezer Bags. Breakfast for example, I put 1 cup of Raisin Bran + 1/3 cup NIDO into freezer bag. When I want to eat, I add enough water to cover, shake, and eat out of the bag. I package Dehydrated Refried Beans & Minute Rice + Taco seasoning + Dehydrated Cheese Powder. I add boiling water when ready to eat. Instant Mash Potatoes plus boiling water, then add cheese & sour cream, and bacon bits... Instant Loaded Potatoes. No dishes, because I am eating out of the freezer bag.

Better to be over prepared from a survival standpoint than not. Especially going off grid and into the wilderness. Not going on the freeway where they can stop at the next gas station to restock and refuel. Only thing they are missing is a gun/rifle to protect themselves from bears/cougars/wolves and other animals. Or hunt for food.

I agree. Theres a lot of overlanders who you can tell have never done any actual camping or backpacking. Its obvious they've only ever done glamping. Backpackers know how to distill gear down to the actual essentials to carry less weight. Also... that wasn't coffee.

Assuming this ride was basically only $100,000 and its going basically 500 miles we've basically spent $20 a mile. That's a great deal when you think about after the trip we've basically got a free truck for another 400,000 miles or so.

@@leroyj9044 hold on... 'no-rinse shampoo". Wtf? is that really a thing? and if-so how the fuck did they figure that out? I mean after you use shampoo... it feels like fucking being lathered in something that's in urgent need to be washed off!

@@mosasa1307 yup, its totally a thing. its not a replacement for your typical shampoo but it does work a bit and isn't really all that expensive, like 8$ for a bottle.

Don't listen to the haters bro. You built an amazing truck! Those that talk shit are just jealous they don't have the same thing. Work hard, buy what you want, and enjoy the life you have. The outdoors calls us all, and how we get out there is determined by our budget. If you don't have much to throw into a truck, you can still go out and have a blast; albeit with less amenities; but if you have the funds to build up a dope truck then do it. I love to see your excitement for the hobby/ lifestyle, and I hope these fucktards that throw shade on you don't inhibit your desire to share your journey. I loved the video, and I hope to see more!

@Franz Hernandez that’s awesome man. I figured all it takes for those who aren’t sponsored or very wealthy already is limited outside responsibility, and good financial planning. I see you have a lot of vids on ur EVO. Looks great. Hope to see some of a taco or something soon!

@Franz Hernandez coming from somebody with some off-road experience, have done a number of runs with groups in Nevada, Cali, and Arizona, the Tacoma is probably your best bet if you want to really go places. A lot of those trails can be pretty narrow and those are some expensive trucks that may likely take a beating. Taco’s can almost go anywhere a Jeep can depending on how you build it. They are all great options tho. Just don’t be afraid of scratches down the length of whatever you get. Just wanted to dive my 2 cents.
