Ideology is important to me as a Barca fan. But there comes a time for damage control We don't have Messi/Suarez anymore. We don't have the quality of players to play great football. For example segments of our fanbsse vocally opposed how Lucho set up and played when he had MSN, an older, slower less energetic MF ahead of a ball playing GK and defense. Since the Pep years we've become more and more fixated with possession.... to our detriment. Opponents have analyzed our tactics and approach playing us a handful of ways mainly depending on what kind of squad they have and its talent level; modest squads tend to play in medium to deep blocks focusing on protecting their 18 yard box, bigger more accomplished squads either press high confident they could play through us or drop off in a mid block pressing at times however mostly intent on counter attacking. If we're so married to our specific ideology why did we stray from so many principles of play? We let the squad get old, had low levels of fitness, lacked width for years, wanted to press high yet had slow CBs while asking our fullbacks to become a primary source of width. I'm not advocating for us to abandon our identity and ideology. I'm saying I want us to stop being naive, expand our interpretation of said ideology and adopt new things while tweaking how much we focus on specific traits like possession for instance. Design out squad in such a way that we retain the traditional values yet are flexible and adaptable enough to do "uncharacteristic" things when necessary to secure silverware.... say if we need to counter attack more, or be more direct and vertical against certain opponents at certain periods of time depending on game state. We can't just be slow and methodical with build-up when we see it isn't working. We need to modernize our interpretation and expression of our identity and ideology.

Actually, Koundes way of playing RB was how it use to be played. The era of highly mobile attacking wing backs really only started catching on in the early 2010s, before that guys like Ramos and Puyol played RB. But anyways Barca have Balde at LB.

@@freeross371 the way Kounde plays is different. When Barca's left flank was filled with Balde, Alba, the opposite flank doesn't really need another attacking fullback. Kounde can play an inverted fullback to form a back 3 to limit the risk of getting smacked in transitions.

Kounde is good but not world class. He's great against Cadiz & other minnows but was so average in Europe .

what makes EPL much more thrilling is pretty obvious. The pressure of competition is very high compared to La liga. In Spain, it is often the game between Real, Barca, Atletico while in EPL there is the Big 6. The differences between teams in EPL is not too great from top to bottom, even a team battling relegation can go all out and smack one of the Big 6 teams. Moreover, the referees at La Liga are much stricter, it feels very boring when refs interrupts plays too excessively, in PL the ball moves a lot with minimal calls from the referee.

@@quangtrungbui675 Fair opinions, but what are we judging as a marker of the best league. You cannot compare the two with anything significant other than Intercontinental play like UCL and EL. Laliga dominates both of those Turnys. Turnys and League play are two different Events that require different tactics and management of players. Not that this applies to you, but from my experience people who only find EPL games entertaining are more often than not casual fans of football that require constant stimulation to enjoy what they are watching. The EPL provides that fast paced non stop, end to end action that is family friendly and overall, a good experience for most fans with little knowledge of the game. If you have basic understanding of tactics and tactical setups along with the history of whatever league/teams your watching, then you would see that all top5 leagues in Europe are around the same level. Some higher than others but not that great of a difference. It's just a matter of preference tbf.
