These are my favorite episodes. I don’t know if you’d ever consider going on a podcast like Jocko’s or Mike Ritland’s. Given the span of your career from the 80s to the 2000s as well as your personality, I think you’d make a phenomenal and fascinating guest. Hope to hear a little more about your backstory someday!

haha funny you say that he reminds me of a chemistry teacher i had in highschool who was also the weightlifting coach for all the teams for the school. He was one of the guys who really got me and a friend into the modern guns like ars and aks. Hed let us fish at his house whenever we wanted and one day showed us his gun collection in the basement. Was a sweet gun room. Havent seen him in awhile hope hes doin alright.

Coch's videos are more like a conversation with the viewer than a formal presentation. He is easy to understand and unlike guys on many other channels his experience speaks for itself. Tactical Hyve is the best channel on KZfaq for this kind of information.

An extra aspect of why these videos with Coch appeal to me is because we are the same age and this is a bit like visiting what life may have been like had I taken the same career path. Probably my favorite episode yet is still the one covering Coch's career Pt 1: The '80s. I was in NJROTC in high school sophomore year '81/'82 and that's where I first learned of the SEAL teams. I was still determined to go Army SF at the time though. Well neither one happened, lol.

Love the historical perspective and some insight into the what’s how’s and why’s of the evolution of gear. I wasn’t military, but I did do 32 years in the fire dept. in CA. We considered ourselves pretty progressive in terms of gear, SOGs, etc. But, looking back over the span of a 20-30 year career in any job where gear is such an important part it’s amazing to reflect on how primitive some of the early stuff seems nowadays. Good stuff. 👍

Nice to hear from someone who was there........thanks for your service. My main rifle is a DDM4 with a Geissele rail. I guess it would be considered a 'block 3" type of weapon but I'm a civilian so no fun switch......after 4000 rds. or so I have fallen in love with the accuracy and weight/balance of the gun. I'm an AK guy also but I totally get why our professionals like yourself prefer a beefed up M4 to the Kalsh pattern for --most-- things. Ultra accurate and 100% reliable with minimal cleaning even when I run a can as long as I wipe the bolt down and pull a bore snake down the barrel every 600-800 rounds or so I'm good. It takes less than 2 minutes and the gun is back up.....I guess that's why the AR pattern has had such staying power, when properly built and cared for it just runs great......
