Just installed on my Jeep, lover them so far. Wired to three switches for DRL, Low and high as well. They fit fine on my Rubicon Hardrock Factory Bumper. The only snag were the wire colors didn't match the light features. Appreciate the video!

I replaced the main Headlights with these in my '99 TJ... nice light output and looks amazing, but no way to adjust the cutout line for low beams. I blinded every driver even in the lower adjustment. After about a year of use, I noticed they started to dimm. Replaced them back to halogen Sylverstars. The LED's did a good job as a fog/long reach in a very dark road for few kms. I will not recomend them as mains.

I do it to the high beam circuit for all the atvs my friends have because the highbeams on those things suck anyways....with my car I wired it to my fob lights and I hate it... the fog light switch Is on the turn signal stalk and you have to rotate to turn on and off....not easy when you are using 2 hands...definitely wish I had wired it to my high beams

@@thepheonixmatt I’ve been asked to do it for all of my friends also. Plus it’s an insane amount of light just clicking the high beams. We live in se TN, so I did it for the back roads as well.

Hey, haven’t had any issues with them! No moisture or lens fading/coloring, and the main beams and drls are all still working good. Jeep stays outside 24/7, so they have been well exposed to the elements. Would still recommend👍🏼

Hey! Very sorry for the late reply. I don't remember exactly and the wires are not marked, so I had to do some looking! I believe I used 12 gauge. Could have probably gotten away with 14, but my local Walmart only carries 12.

@TacticalJK

Tap into a fuse in the fuse box that only has power when the jeep is on. There should be plenty of videos for wiring up “halo” headlights to the jeeps, and the process is the same! This vid might be helpful kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qZeIbNaG29XDn6M.html

How did you plug in without a positive and negative. DRL into the headlights. Where did to ground plug, and what ere did the High and low plug. That is high and low into each plug but you only have one negative wire and where did that plug into?
@TacticalJK
@TacticalJK 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! The jeep headlight connection is three pronged. It has a high beam positive, low beam positive, and a ground. When you connect the DRL positive wire, it will use the same ground that is already in harness, the same one that the high/low beams use. Does that answer you question?

I bought stock Jeep black covers for my stock 2002 TJ bumper mounted foglights. It was a big mistake; the foglights can stay on if the steering wheel stalk switch controlling the foglights is not turned off or stuck, with the key out. Very bad design by Chrysler; the foglights will kill the battery overnight. With covers on you don't have a clue the foglights are on so I dumped them and covered the lenses with transparent anti-rock damage film. Don't cover your lightsso you know what's going on. BTW this happened twice to me, once overnight and once I left the Jeep for 5 days and the battery was stone cold dead. Luckily it is an Optima Yellow Top and after some effort getting it to recharge it's going strong and it's on year 9.

You say they are 105W each. Is that actual power consumption, ie. 8.75A current draw, or is that equivalent light output? Basically, I want to know how much current they draw.

Anyone have actual pictures of how you wire this to your headlights for DRL? Also, is there a way to vampire tap into the main headlight for it to work with the main OEM switches? Meaning when you pull the lever for main headlights high beam both the headlights and these lights work the exact same…? Anyone? Pics!

I don't get it. I run Sylvania Silverstar sealed beam 55w high output headlights on my TJ, they're plenty bright, are $20 each and available at every auto store. Don't need to adjust their alignment during replacement. The light pods suck up another 105 watts (210 watts for 2?) which is another 9 (18?) amps the alternator has to drive and hurts my big amperage needs, 40amps to recharge the 'fridge battery quickly. Also affects mileage. I'll not go on, but it seems big aftermarket LEDs are an expensive vanity item, almost $2,000 for a light bar that draws 13 amps. Also if you get popped running these lights on public highways it's a sure ticket if you blind an oncoming cop. Not worth the money, the hassle of wiring it right, not worth it on the trail @5mph so why install one? I get it, you can see deer on the road @ 2,500 feet but my deer encounters have been @500 feet running up a fill slope and headlights were not the problem, braking and steering saved me. So carry on. My 2002 TJ has bright lights and stock foglights and they do the job. The headlights work well and if the shit hits the fan, heavy fog or rain I'll drop down to 5mph and fire off the fogs, even get out with a 1 million candlepower handheld and look around and look at the situation. I'm not spending thousands for penetrating lights, sorry..
@TacticalJK
@TacticalJK 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your opinion! Im surprised you have had success with your stock fog lights. Mine were just about useless. Anyway I gotta say I am a fan of light pods, as I have found them to be useful and they were a fun project! But to each their own!
@markwyatt3088
@markwyatt3088 2 жыл бұрын
@@TacticalJK The factory fog lights alignment is wrong; they're pointed straight ahead so the backscatter from heavy fog/snow/rain/smoke/dust is as bad as from your low beam headlights. The trick is to point them way down, below your low beam light pattern, with their top cutoff about 25-50 feet in front of the Jeep. The perfect setup is done by aligning the fog lights so they fill the space below your low beams and don't shine where the low beams do. You'll be amazed that a total whiteout using low beams turns into enough visibility when using only fog lights to go 5-15mph safely. They're also really nice for driving/setting up camp (at 2:00am?) in campgrounds without irritating your neighbors with your superbright headlights/lightpods.
@TacticalJK

@@markwyatt3088 Great info, Thanks! I will test this out next time I run a bumper with factory fogs!
