Those fittings look easy to cut out and braze later when the leaks start.

This was the first one I ever used back in 2018 when I first got into hvac. We were a small company so hardly ever used it bc the price of the fittings. Good to have on special occasions

This was a great video. I hate flares and always braze these fittings.

I’ve done a lot of research about these products. The price of getting set up with this is way out of range for your average technician. Milwaukee has a tool that uses these fittings. All of the tools are crazy prices. The RLS brand has a better warranty than other products (15 years). I just wish the tools were cheaper.

Very cool presentation Tadd.. how did you figure out that pesky annoying DENT from the Tube Cutter ? Always happens with me. Is there a better way to cut tubing without that cutter ?
@TaddyDigest
@TaddyDigest 9 ай бұрын
I think that I was pressing down too hard and I needed to use the tube and cutters that correct way.

Thanks for the great video. My main concern about these fittings is that they might show leaks in systems with sudden temperature changes e.g. a freezer using hot gas as a defrost mechanism. I am afraid if the sudden thermal contraction and expansion can lead to leaks around the fittings. Have you tried it in such systems?
@TaddyDigest
@TaddyDigest 4 ай бұрын
I have not tried it on freezer equipment but I did try on cooler equipment a couple weeks ago.

Thank you sir! I have a question. Are the copper lines ever different size on either side of the flare? I may be mistaken but I thought I came across that on a Samsung indoor wall unit . If so I guess we just make sure we get a reducer.
@TaddyDigest

FYI, the 1/4 line on the Pioneer / Midea units are not 1/4” on the evap side. I learned this the hard way!

435 psi on indoor coil now that would scare me, what is the low and high test design pressure?
@TaddyDigest

Samsung actually recommends that the pressure that you test should be at least five hundred and ninety p s I.

I am wondering how well this will hold up to the vibration, thermal cycling, and o-ring deterioration over the course of a normal product lifetime.? Also is there a way to undo these couplings besides cutting them off in case they do start leaking?
@TaddyDigest
@TaddyDigest 9 ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure I would have to cut them off if they leaked.

Those are some expensive fittings. But for what HVAC techs make, they probably pay for themselves in time savings.

So, where's the "Hack" part from the title bro? To me that suggest that there's something special that you can do to make using this tool easier or to get around a known problem. All this was, was a demo of the tool. Which is fine, but the title is a little click baitey. 🤔 🤦‍♂️
