Tado Internet Bridge v3 Install and Review

In this video we update to the Tado Internet Bridge v3. The main reason for getting this is if you want to connect into the Apple Home Kit smart home.

I can’t hear what you are saying over the loud music. No music at all would be more suitable for this type of subject.

I agree looking back. At the time I was trying to do some background music, but post edit I found out it was too loud. Apologies.

Nice video again ! I finally got my starter kit with the new bridge type and additional 4 other thermostats 👍 but I still cant figure it out.. I've got my own gas boiler Vaillant model with self temperature controller in the front. So the question is : if the temperature is 22 celsius on the boiler and 25 on the thermostat, which one will be right ? These smart thermostats will only control the water flow. Would that save me money on my next heat bill ? Since a gas boiler have a closed water system :)

They are both right as the temp measurement is monitored at different locations. If you are using the Radiator valves you are just controling and maintaining the water flow into the Radiator you have the valve, the rest where there are no sensors will be independant. If you have operational questions you are best of contacting Tado.

Cheers for the feedback, seems there is a mixed response on this. I think the volume is coming out louder than in pre production, so will do some more testing.

Do you need the Tado° Digital Smart Thermostat (Square Shaped) to use the Tado° Smart Radiator with Apple HomeKit? To clarify, may I simply purchase the Tado° Smart Thermostat and use it with Apple HomeKit while at Home?

Hi there, no you dont need the Thermostat. The Smart Radiator Value is itself compatible with the Apple Homekit, you just need to have the Internet bridge. However, keep in mind this will not control when the heating is on or off, only water flow or not to the respective radiators. As without the thermostat you dont have connection to boiler controls.

Unfortunately only the AC control unit is available in the USA, and there is no short term plan from Tado to introduce the heating units into USA. The reason for this is they put alot of effort into ensuring compatability with the various heating systems and languages they use (Tado currently supports 18,000 heating systems in Europe), making it the most compatible. So this doesnt help you right now, but when they come to USA one day you know it will work, and work well.

All ethernet connections on my router are in use. Can the bridge work with wifi?

Sadly not, it required an Ethernet connection.

Install and review. Isn’t this more a review? I’m looking for a real instal clip. Mine can’t get online en Tado is for so far not a real good help or me after no connection with helpdesk after 17.00 hours. To be fair they are helping me the whole day, with a lot of waiting between 2 questions about the same issue. And now i have to figure something out, its almost starting to freeze in my house, and start search the web and bump into you’re video. Finally i thought to see a realtime video installing the Tado v3. Another disappointment for me.

What issues are you having. The Bridge is pretty much plug and play. Plug in, connect in the app and job done. Do you have some rules configured on your Firewall preventing access?

@@SpectrumGeeks this is what we are trying to figure out now. 2 days ago I bought my first one, didn’t work. Yesterday I changed it for an other one. And now for one or the other reason it simply won’t pair, not even work by manually changing the temperature. I’ve made a new account to be sure there are no conflicts. Guess what happened. If I check the app it says in tab rooms the set I returned. When I check tab HomeKit it shows the set I’ve connect now. Helpdesk Tado doesn’t know what to do now. I’m guessing there is an install error in the thermostat it self also.

Why would you be a fan of this TADO system. It’s so infuriatingly shit… constantly breaks, shuts down, turns the radiators on randomly when the batteries run out in the thermostats and just shuts itself a few times a month. Worst product ever

6 years and Tado is still working fine for me. Have to say not experienced the issues you have mentioned.
