I suspect the Legendary Tae Yamada might actually be awakened, but she's on the spectrum and nonverbal, so a lot of people haven't figured it out. I mean, look at her S2 episode - if you send her out grocery shopping on her own, she's able to convey to others what she's looking for and pay for it when they indicate the total. That is not a mindless zombie. But what really makes me think it is when I see her anxious over someone's struggles, holding her head and biting on her nails. Or here, when she has an outburst because her routine is disrupted. Tae is uncomfortable with change and struggles at regulating emotions.

Since Tae's family grave was next to Sakura's then it could be that their families knew each other and who knows maybe tae knew Sakura but that seems unlikely considering tae's backstory

Tae may not be the smartest, or the most socially acceptable or the best dancer. She may not even be the best girl. Because she's the best character in the the series. And maybe even 2018. Maybe even the decade. Why? Because she: 1. Has impaired speech 2. Has a simple mind 3. More than likely died the worst death out of the group She didn't have to rely on anime's stereotypical power of friendship or magical power from the author that grants infinite strength. Tae is the best because despite all her short comings compared to everyone else, she never gave up on what mattered. When all hope was lost, Tae was there to remind them of their purpose. When someone refused to do their part, Tae wasn't swayed or convinced. She wasn't an overpowered MC, she didn't have a desire for power or lust for harems. Tae was more than just an ordinary zombie. She was a character that won the hearts of millions by simply being herself.

Part of me wants to believe that Tae may have a disability. She is capable of learning but to a certain extent. And I like to believe she had one when she was alive. Maybe she is awake but she still has a disability.

Tae is LEGENDARY!
