In this episode Graeme tags on a trip from a previous night beach fishing session, hoping to hit the same state of tide, but in daylight. Will his efforts produce? Watch to get tips..also skipper Tommo of the Watchet charter boat "Lorna Doone" shows how to rig the best bait of all, the Spider Peeler crab, and you can get lots of baits from just one of these giant Peelers. Then GP recalls a winter shock he had when he found one of his oak trees had almost exploded apart overnight. And still on the subject of prime timber, he thinks he has just collected the World's biggest PALLET for one of his build projects. Enjoy!

Grahame I’m a huge fan of your show i watched every show and some over and over your a master fisherman thanks for the show and tips here’s a small tip of mine we have been using strips of roach with mackerel squid crab and jumbo whole shelled prawn and we have been very successful I think it’s the silver colour that’s attractive also we used a small one whole and caught a schooling bass we always experiment with also before I used a small mouse on I keep them in my bait freezer in the fishing room for the pet snake and within seconds I got a bite and a nice size wrasse took it hope this was helpful.

Nice bit of shore dangling, great to see Tommo again, and some good work in the garden. You did well to get that tree down safely, and all hail King Pallet! Graeme - wheelbarrows are old hat - get yourself a 2nd hand ride on mower with a trailer. So much easier! Stay safe & well. 👍👍

I'm roughly the same age as you but with no DIY skill (or tools to do the jobs). What I can do and love once I get moving is gardening. I love watching your energy when it comes to tackling jobs and apart from the tree surgeon I never see you fail to take on all the house maintenance and gardening, yet still get time to fish, go for walks, help Mike with projects etc etc. It's an absolute pleasure to watch you and yes I do learn something.

Its a problem I have from being guided by a non-stop workhouse Grandfather...I just get bored doing nothing, and strange as it may seem to some, I actually like being tired from a physical day..feels like I have achieved something .Building work, maintenance(did big drain blockage on commercial property yesterday !!..Phew !)..Gardening,painting,repairs,making stuff,digging holes,and occassionally,fishing. All helps to fill the day and I feel I have not wasted a second of the precious 24 hours we get.

Not sure there is an “ultimate” bait, everything will blank on its day! Best all-round bait has to be lugworm imo (from the shore) and lug and squid on the boat. I tried for a first Smoothhound of the year the other day. Sat on the beach for 8 hours in a rough wind, switched and swapped between lug, peeler and squid on various rigs for one (ONE!!) Smoothhound pup, dogfish size! Great video gp...

I've used spider peeler quite a few times when I've run out of shore peelers. Never done that well on it to be honest, for hounds anyway rag outfishes it easily where I go (shore). I've caught bream on spider peeler legs. It's so tough one leg can last for ages!

Glad you got someone in to take the tree down. The bark inside is commonly called ‘included bark’ and it causes a lot of trees to come down.
@TAFishing
@TAFishing 3 жыл бұрын
My tree surgeon says there is plenty of this around. Is it natural degredation ? or something caused by pollution or global weather change ?
@SEFullmetalJake
@SEFullmetalJake 3 жыл бұрын
@@TAFishing In my experience I find that it’s caused from injury to the tree at a young age where the tree tried to heal itself. The more common one that I come across is when there is a young tree that is multi stemmed, the stems grow while touching and eventually the bark on the inside is damaged and the tree naturally heals itself, encasing the two together and trapping the bark( like you mentioned in the video), but in reality they are separate stems. It usually stays pretty stable for a long time, but as they get a lot bigger and depending on the weather, such as lots of rain followed by a very hot day; it can cause it to split. Also strong winds of course. I recently had to clear away a huge Ash tree which came down due to included bark, which started right from the very base. It was quite an old tree so they can last a very long time.

This has left me with questions... How would you store hard back crabs if you shouldn't put them in the Freezer? Tommo said they are the only crabs you dont freeze, so does that mean you have to catch them the day you plan to use them? I'm sure you have frozen hard backs before Graeme? I was planning to get some hard backs and pop them in the freezer until I go use them but now I dont know what to do...?
@clarkkent4683

Ive a request graham if you have inclination to do it. I think it would be good content, i’d like you if possible a waterproof camera above tour aiming at the traces/rigs for each type you use, both shore fishing and on the boat. To test how they actually work, do all the hooks just sit on the bottom from the shore or do they flag at heights, to the beads help baits float like on a place rig or a sabiki. Im sure someone with your knowledge could test other functions that aren’t coming to my mind! If nothing else it could give you some frames to play with showing your catches as you get them, or even satisfy the mind on those pesky missed bites!
