+Arlene A. He's a great playwright. The book A Trip to Echo Spring makes me want to read more of his work. He was a genius but he also had severe mental health issues that he tried to treat with drugs and alcohol. The book is fascinating glimpse into his life. I want to know more.

Thank you so much. You articulated beautifully everything I found amazing about Joan Didion's, A Year of Magical Thinking. I stopped recommending it to friends, because it seemed that I was the only person who found it spare yet perfectly complex. When you observed, "There is pain in the attempt to not feel any pain"... brilliant!

+jbsubscribes I really liked it. I thought it was quite amazing. I want to read more of her work. I think about reading Blue Nights since it picks up where A Year of Magical Thinking left off but I'm not sure if I can handle it.
