On board of Taiwan's long distance train, launched in 2022, the EMU 3000. These trains, the Tze Chiang EMU 3000 are a part of the domestic non high speed intercity network on the conventional railway lines. These are the only intercity trains on the regular railway lines in Taiwan that do offer a higher class. Apart from that, these trains have all the things you might need to make your journey productive. Even though the scenery on the west coast isn't like the beautiful scenery along the east coast of Taiwan, you still have nicer views from the train than taking the high-speed line.
These trains can be found all over Taiwan on the conventional railway lines. In this video we'll be taking this train from Chiayi, even though our train started a bit south from Kaohsiung and will go a bit north from Taipei (covering a longer distance than the high speed line). The advantage of the conventional trains in Taiwan is that the railway stations are located in the city center, what's not always the case for the high speed railway in Taiwan.
