An inexpensive breakfast street food in Taiwan that will load you up with enough energy for your day. The warm fluffy rice with crispy fried dough fritter, light pork floss and crunchy pickled vegetable filling will warm you up, perfect for colder weather.

STICKY RICE ROLLS RECIPE [粢飯]
This recipe makes 11 sticky rice rolls [製成十一條]
INGREDIENTS [食材]
800g Sweet Rice [糯米]
2 Sticks Fried Dough Fritter [油炸鬼]
Some Pork Floss [肉鬆]
Some Pickled Vegetables [炸菜]
100ml Hot Water [熱水]
3/4tsp Salt [鹽]
1tsp Sugar [糖]
DIRECTIONS [製作]
1. Rinse sticky rice clean, soak in water for 4 hours. [糯米洗净,用水浸泡四個小時。]
2. Soak pickled vegetables in water for 20 minutes, strain, set aside. [炸菜用水泡二十分鐘,瀝乾待用。]
3. Finely dice pickled vegetables, stir fry and add some sugar, set aside to cool. [炸菜切碎,炒香加入少許糖調味備用。]
4. Strain and steam sticky rice for 35 minutes, set aside. [瀝乾水蒸三十五分鐘至熟,取出備用。]
5. Use hot water to melt salt and sugar, mix it into sticky rice. [鹽和糖用熱水搅溶,加入糯米飯捞匀。]
6. Place a sheet of saran wrap, spread on a thin layer of rice, press rice to flatten, sprinkle some pork floss, some pickled vegetables, a piece of fried dough. With the seran wrap, roll it up into a log, serve [用一張保鮮膜放平,放飯在一邊略壓,放入肉鬆和少許炸菜碎,再放入油條,連同保鮮膜卷起,再两邊卷實即成。].

Mistake on hot water amount! Very sorry! It should be 100ml of hot water. Not 300ml. Very sorry for the mistake!

It is my all time favourite in Hong Kong. It could be my breakfast, lunch or sometimes dinner. There was a Shanghai cuisine restaurant that we called it a little red house made the best 粢飯. Another good one was in Cauesway Bay, the one in 厚福街was not bad too. Thank you Papa Fung digs out my good old Hong Kong memory. Thank you for sharing the recipe. I will definitely try to make it.

Could I make these ahead of time and microwave them so that the rice is soft again? These are some of my favorites to eat and nowhere around makes them
