If this song sounds familiar… a couple of months ago I posted a different version of the song, played on the old Fender non-pedal steel, A6 tuning. I thought it might be fun to also record a pedal steel E9 version… so here it is. 😊 Thanks to all of my subscribers and others for continuing to support my channel. Steel guitars forever!

Wow! IF you want "Top-note High Music"; that's Beautiful, Great and Melodic; just find Doug Beaumier's Videos! As late Jerry Byrd would like it. Because, he said this: There are two ways; to play a Steel Guitar: "1. From your head to your hands". Or 2. "Play from your head; through your heart; and then your hands"! And JB, also said this: "There are 3 ways to play Music"...Melody, Melody and Melody! Thus, End of story! And thanks Doug, and a great friend. ❤

Thank you again, Carl! I'm reminded of something that Jerry Byrd said at the end of his instructional video. He said to play music that people can understand and relate to. In other words, don't clutter up songs with a bunch of unnecessary licks... play the melody. That's what listeners relate to. Of course, there's a time and a place for improvisation, but some players "improvise" through the entire song, making the song unrecognizable. 😅

A wonderful song that is universal....sang by Hank Williams originally (Written by Fred Rose and Hy Heath) and also sounds great as done by Ray Charles and even the great Earnest Tubb did it well. I love this steel rendition. Hank and Don Helms are pleased, I am certain.

Looks like a George L pickup. I’ve be been looking for one but was told they don’t make them anymore. Nice playing I’ve learned numerous songs from your videos. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for watching! Yes, it's a George L's pickup. I don't know if they're still being made. This pedal steel is a 2006. I like the pickup. My only previous experience with George L's was their E-66 pickup. I didn't like that one... too thin sounding, not enough lows. It was designed to simulate the sound of a 1966 Emmons pedal steel. A cool idea, but it didn't work for me. I do like the standard George L's on my Carter though.

I did not realize you did another one on the pedal steel guitar. Thank you for doing this song on both instruments, both are perfect. I sure wished you had made it big back in the days of Lloyd Green and many more. As far as I am concerned you are absolutely one of the best I have heard and am truly keeping the art alive with these videos. Please keep this up as I love every song you do, it just brings the old music back to us all of that era !!!!!!!!!

Thanks Bill. The shirt is a.SCULLY brand. They make real fancy western shirts. I have about a dozen of them that were given to me by a singer who retired from music a few years ago. I also purchased a couple used ones in excellent condition on eBay. 😊

Great to hear that you’re getting into the C6 non-pedal steel. There’s a lot of great stuff in that tuning especially when you start using the bar slants. Have fun with it. Hope your knee is feeling better.
