From 1988 at Silver Dollar City theme park. Frank Wing (banjo), Adam Steffey (mandolin), Tim Stafford (guitar), Barry Bales (bass) and Tom Ratliff (Dobro). Even back then, these future bluegrass powerhouse stars sounded great!

Wow! Thanks for posting this. It's practically Union Station before Alison snatched them up!

Thanks! This group was such an amazing band! In the following year, Stafford, Steffey, and Bales formed the band Dusty Miller along with Tammy Rogers and Brian Fesler. Right after that is when Alison hired the boys for her band. (Some trivia about this video clip: the blonde in the front row is Martie Erwin, who later on became one of the Dixie Chicks.)

@@grantcochran6124 That's incredible. Thanks for all the information. I really feel like there should be a substantial documentary made about AKUS, considering the massive influence they've had in bluegrass, and the unique sound they created over time. Maybe I should make it. Haha.

Did they ever do a CD/tape?

Yes. "Bluegrass" in 1977, an EP (4 tracks) in 1983, and finally, "The Boys In The Band" on audio cassette in 1987 or 88.
