These are early interviews I did with Marsika Hargitay in 1998 and 2000 that I mashed up into one piece.

That's awesome that she told Hollywood to kick rocks on the name change. Far too many do it.

Her name Hargitay is a hungarian name, probably her ancestors are from Translyvania, from Hargita (Romanian pronunciation: [harˈɡita] (listen), Hungarian: Hargita megye, pronounced [ˈhɒrɡitɒ]) is a county (județ) in the center of Romania, in eastern Transylvania, with the county seat at Miercurea Ciuc. The old hungarian nobles names usualy ends with "y" but it reads as an "i" in hungarian. Her name has a meaning to, it's means she is from Hargita ( the place name), the last "y" it reads "i" and in this context is meaning "from" . And in hungarian always the family name come first and it reads Hargitay Mariska and not Mariska Hargitay. A raw translation of her name is something like this "Mariska from Hargita".

Look up her Father Mickey, he was a Hungarian body builder who won Mr. Universe in 1955.

@@Alrightvibe I think her real father is Nelson Sardelli. She looks just like him and Jayne was in divorce proceedings with Mickey while she was seeing him. Then after the divorce she found out she was pregnant and begged Mickey to pretend they were still married.

@@Kaboomboo You're right. Brazilian-born Italian Nelson Sardelli was one of Jayne's favorite playmates, but few except older Jayne-o-philes like me (and maybe you) ever heard of him. The resemblance is obvious. Mariska herself may not even know, or want to know.

Oh my goodness, please correct a major mistake in your narration; Mariska's mom was the star Jayne Mansfield, not Jean 😬.

Everyone on the sixties was trying to be a sex symbol. It was just " the thing" at the time. Ann Margaret, Jayne, Maryland, Sharon Tate, God rest her soul, was just in that Era of things. Sad how the media has betrayed them as cheap. Really sad

ER was a hot mess. If you didn't cooperate with the male actors you were blacklisted.
