there is never an end to shiny new equipment options, a guy can make a case for just about any purchase. The problem is when the inevitable downturns happen. As Dave Ramsey says - when the tide goes out, you can tell who is skinny dipping.

Hi Michael, thank you and Chris for some wonderful videos. It was great seeing you both trying out the different equipment and having a few laughs along the way. It will be really nice to see Chris at your place and trying out your fleet. I have not laughed so much in ages so a huge thank you for that, and please thank your good lady for sparing you to go play at Letsdig18!!!! All the very best Graham🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍😎

YOU TWO GUYS need to start a Prime-Time TV Show!! I just came up with the perfect title for your show... "ABBOTT & COSTELLO - TAKE TWO - The Next Generation!" I have to qualify my experience on excavators; it's a few hundred hours on my nephews Kubota 057-4. I admit I'm not in your league, but you've entertained me like nothing else on TV. Mike, you in the seat of the 160 reminds me of an experience I once had. It was the late 70s and I was an air traffic controller at Las Vegas TRACON (Terminal Radar Approach CONtrol). As a commercial pilot, my second career, I had a thousand hours or so in Cessna 310s, 320s, 402s and 421s. On the spur of the moment, I had the opportunity to fly a Learjet 24. From the moment I pushed the throttles forward until I'd landed and turned off the runway, I can best describe my flight as... "IF I'D CRASHED DURING THE FLIGHT, I WAS SO FAR BEHIND THE AIRPLANE I WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT!!!" OK, keep up the good work, guys... you've made my day!

Nothing beats tiger cat (cat JD need not apply) ! 635D 6 wheel skidder and the 822, 830 bunchers will move more wood with two guys than a team of the good ol boys in any other brand. With bigger toys come bigger responsibilities…lol. Mike definitely was enjoying himself on the 160. Although, I think Mike is experienced in much bigger equipment. Chris really needs to experience Indiana digging where anything is possible and can turn up in the bucket of Indiana soil…lol..Great Job Mike. Hows the new dump truck coming along?? Chis suggested to get behind a tree when Mike stated operating the cutter…lol.. Which tree Chris…Mike was on a mission…lol.

As far as the excavator, man I can’t say. My dad had two sayings in regards to equipment. 1. It’s just big enough to make you wish had one big enough to do the job. 2. If your equipment doesn’t haft to work to do the job it will last you far longer. At 64 I’m still following that advice. I still use equipment that he bought many years ago. Several times his stuff will never open the governor to do what I need. Me I haft to go with the 220. It’s just the way I was taught.

You have the trailer to move a 220, so it's not a pay someone else to move issue. Having a machine that can handle larger jobs easily you might find more of them coming your way. The 160 size would fit with your current fleet better but wouldn't extend to larger jobs as easily. I would say go for the 220, the permits to move aren't as much of a stopper when you consider the speed gained in completing jobs with it.
@wjamesm1001
@wjamesm1001 2 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly , He has the lowbed to move a heavier equipment and moving up to a 160 isn't that much of an upgrade from the 140 , Now it may be a money issue to move bigger than a 160 , but if it was me I would be looking at least to a 200 size or bigger . Next Mike will be looking for a haul truck , lol

@@wjamesm1001 Lt Dan is supposed to be his haul truck.
@wjamesm1001
@wjamesm1001 2 жыл бұрын
@@jaquigreenlees Yea it will be interesting to see it work, the only problem I can see happing it on road trucks are alot more unstable and tippy when you have the bed up using them rough ground compared to a haul truck like Chris's Volvo plus it won't be able to haul as much, Now that said it's a huge price difference between the two and Mike can run Lt. Dan on road too . It all depends on what type of work you do to justify what equipment you need/want . Chris does alot of work where he needs dirt moved over a distance and for him Lt. Dan would slow him down , hence the haul truck works better for him .

Hey, keep sharing your "evaluations" with us on skidsteers, I'm probably going to be in the market in the next year or so, and seeing input on stuff like maintenance as it's actually done, differences that folks may not think of, (like the one where Worksalot got stuck in the cab because of the swinging door). Having 3 Kubota tractors, I wouldn't have thought the skidsteers would have been as hard to work on as they apparently are, but I guess I should have, since the easiest one to work on is one of the little ones built nearly 40 years ago, the 2015 one, not so much. Anyway, another very enjoyable video!

Obviously one is bigger and ones smaller but the 325 is an absolute dream too run and the 315 will literally beat your brains out. Its amazing how much different a piece of equiptment fits the person and their expectations when they own it then when they get to use something else you realize how unfit what you have is to you. Im still stuck in a lever moving my valves vs a solenoid and a computer. I know that limits me to what i can get and the quality but i dont use it as a business its more of a hobby and convenience when i need it, every time i see your bucket flopping on your excavator my mind says....that tool right there has been used and could make me happy vs the payments it would take to have new....i wont even start on the emission BS lol
