The "Are of sitting on a chair?" question is a baseline question isn't it? It's to make sure the lie detector is still working by asking a question with a definite, provable truth, and if Tommy's definite truthful answer turns up a lie, that means the lie detector needs to be recalibrated

I feel kinda bad for tommy, cus he doesn't lie on some of these. The more meaningful questions can make him anxious, and lie detectors pick that up as lying. He gets nervous from the question and it thinks he lies.

The reason that it spiked when Ranboo asked if Tommy thought he was ugly is that he was probably very anxious that the test would say he was lying that his heart rate went up and it gave false readings. Tommy has made comments on multiple occasions that Ranboo is attractive.

The lie detecting machines today are only capable of 91% being accurate in important cases, so it's normal that when anxious and stressed or taken by surprise, the captors take theses into account. And we all know how Tommy is hyper energetical and scareable, his heart beats can go up just by being taken off guard. I don't think that Tommy was lying about Ranboo's appearance, he really does look handsome.

Just in case anyone is worried: I’m a psychologist. There’s been a lot of scientific research showing that lie detectors aren’t actually accurate- but this video was a fantastic interpretation of one regardless!

The fact that many lie detectors can be cheesed by staying calm even when you are lying. Tommy probably was not lying about Ranboo being not ugly but he was nervous so the lie detector thinks he was lying.

2:40 The reason it said what it did is this: Lie detectors are bogus, all they do is read your heart rate and such, and if you lie and you don't want people to find out, you will probably get more tense and your heart might change pace. Tommy was joking when he said "yes" and he has joked about it so often that he didn't feel like he was lying, only playing around. Therefore, his heart rate didn't change because he wasn't worried.

I watch ylyl with Wil, Ranboo, Tubbo + Jack and this a lot because it never fails to make me laugh- I CAN'T BELIEVE I NEVER NOTICED IT BEFORE. When I was watching ylyl, i saw the red couch and had a sudden realization. The two videos were filmed on the same day. Their clothing is the same- I think the shirt Tommy had in this video was under his sweatshirt in the ylyl, Jack was wearing a hoodie here, and Ranboo's jeans are the same and I can totally see him wearing a Hawaiian shirt under a hoodie. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming. (If this like comes off as creepy for whatever reason - it's not meant that way. I'm just mindbown I didn't notice before now and wanted to explain my reasoning.)

Keep in mind that lie detectors can be messed with when you’re stressed. Like when Ranboo asked if he thought he was ugly, it’s that Tommy was worried that it would come out as a lie, and therefore caused a spike in stress, when really he most likely does not think Ranboo is ugly.

So basically, Tommy thinks Ranboo without the mask is ugly, he recently found out that he's gay, he's really nice to Wilbur, and Jack Manifold is going to pursue good relations with Tommy's mum
