the fld120 was the last truck freightliner built that was made to last. Many mechanics will tell you the detroit series 60 12.7 is the best truck engine ever made. Not the most powerful on the road but a great combination of power, reliability and fuel economy.
@jimmartin78813 жыл бұрын
My uncle had an FLD when they first come out, that ended up being my first REAL truck and I loved it. Other than the headroom it was comfortable and reliable as hell, I sold it to get my next truck and that FLD is still out there making money.

This one is still earning its keep. And whether it’s with me or someone else I hope she will for years to come. It’s a solid old ride.

The Best Value out there for an Owner Operator is an older Truck like this. Myself, I am still operating 38 of the 50 1986 Peterbilt 359's my Dad ordered in 1985. Maintained Meticulously to near perfect condition. They turn Heads wherever they are. After several Engine and Transmission rebuilds and changes. They are documented from 4.6 to 5.2 Million miles. And STILL cost less to operate than anything built today.

I had an ex mayflower single axle KW with a set of doubles back in the day... it did its job and got me where I needed to be. We all started somewhere! I completely understand having the love for a truck for many reasons. I've been in the business my entire life. Grew up in it. Been a company owner and driver myself for well over 30 years. My best advice is to save all you can in the good times. Keep your equipment in top condition. Drive what makes you the most money. And work as hard as you can! There is so much working against us.
