@oceanpoet1 Thanks! I use Yes Paste to glue down most of my papers (plastic surfaces don't work well for this glue, however). I use clear silicone, the stuff that comes in the caulking tubes at hardware stores, to glue down the bottles and most all all objects.

Ok Greg, you would have to work really hard to create something that I did not love. Quirky I would say ...to me that means beautiful. I am still working on ideas for my first assembledges....and have encountered the depth issue. Thanks for the tips.

@CAP953 I guess I do both, but I tend to do a bit more planning for those spaces ahead of time since I have to cut wooden dividers, etc. and make everything fit.

@LisaPatencio Lisa, sometimes I do...I have a small rotary sander (using sandpaper) that does an easy grinding/smoothing if I have some raw/ragged edges that are going to be exposed, but for the most part, it's not a concern...I just glue the glass in place.

I love to see what you are working on ! When you are designing a piece do you divide the box and then find something to fit in or do you generally have an idea what you'll be putting in and then put in the separators? It's always intriguing to see how the pieces evolve as you are working. You are a great inspiration.

@calgalhg I hate to admit it, but I don't really have a very good plan for organizing "papers," etc. I keep favorites in plastic tubs and boxes....I pull them out for projects, grabbing at this and that, but eventually I find that I have to go back and do a total reorganization of everything and start from fresh. It's kinda' good to do that because I rediscover stuff that I had completely forgotten about. It's basically the same thing for the "objects" that I use in my boxes.

from one assemblage artist to another.....how do you organize your vintage papers? i'm going through my studio and trying to make things easier to find but i'm not sure how to organize my paper. right now i cut what i want out of books and keep it all in a clear plastic container. kind of a pain to go through it all when your looking for that picture of a butterfly you remember cutting out a while back. any tips would be appreciated:) btw, i love your work!

Hi, love your work Greg. How do you attach the glass cover without seeing the silicone.
@Brdlee
@Brdlee 6 жыл бұрын
I build a little "rail" all the way around in side the box...I put the silicone on this rail and set the glass on top of it. I then construct thing paper strips to cover over the edges of the glass. I have some other videos that show this.
