Love you doing Daddy Duty (it's not baby sitting) to let you have two hands and really put you between any animals and Brooklyn consider a hiking baby backpack. Her weight will be distributed better. The chickens that lay blue eggs are called, Ameraucanas, Araucanas, or Cream leg bars. We have 3 of these types of chickens and the lay from a pink to a sky blue egg. They are also the nicest of all the chickens we have.

Tape the extension cords where they connect. Once the water gets in there it will pop the breaker.

Brook would be a good name for Brooklyn's rooster, your egg production could drop off during winter, I think the chickens that lay the blue to green eggs are called Easter eggers

Flair, you should run your own power to the chicken coop. Get a roll of 10/2 outdoor wire and a breaker for the breaker box in the barn, and run the 10/2 out of the top of the barn and up through the trees to the coop. that way it's up high enough off the ground so that you can drive under it. and then buy an end for it like extension cords have. Those extension cords you're using are not made with heavy enough gauge of wire to run heaters properly. They will most likely keep throwing the breaker or they could get overheated and meltdown and start a fire. When the heaters have been on for a few feel the plugs on the cords to see if they're getting hot, if they are that isn't good. Outside use 10/2 wire will work great and it will only be temporary for this winter and then you'll be moving.

Had an idea for your electrical issue. Put a deep box where the cord goes into the coop with a lid, then run a cord with a male end plug in it that can supply the power to the coop, that way you can always change a cord if necessary. And, probably get some sort of cover for your electrical connections which are exposed to the outside. May want to also consider a way to run the cord in the air to prevent it from ever possibly sitting in a puddle of water. Love the content, can not wait to see what y'all get into next.

I know you don't read every comment but roosters don't help with egg production they just help germinate the eggs for breeding and they protect your hens, show them food. During winter hens will lay less because not as many light hrs.

Get copper marans- they lay dark dark eggs Americanas lay blue Olive eggers and many other breeds lay green eggs Leghorns are best for your white eggs Look up an egg color chart, you would be amazed. We had over 300 birds last year including chickens, ducks, turkey, quail, pheasant

The colour of the chickens ear usually determines the colour of eggs they will lay. We’ve had many chickens who lay blue/teal eggs and they all have had it. Keep up the content

For the extention cord just cut the cooked end off and put on a new male end. And the breed that plays colored eggs are called araucana. Some people call them Easter Eggers
