In today's video I prank my online Spanish teacher by changing my accent mid lesson. At first I speak with a typical foreign sounding accent in Spanish. Then I switch to my normal more Mexican accent. Sandy was surprised and confused at how my accent changed so much! It's always fun to shock my online teachers with fluent and native sounding Spanish. Reminds me of when I met a Greek girl and I'm also Greek, and I lied and I said I was foreign, and I purposely with my worst english accent tried to say her name, and she said ''that's weird, you're the first foreigner to say my name good'' and I was like ''what!!? how bad do other people say your name!!!''.

It's true. It's always harder to speak your second language with your native accent when you're already having more natural foreign accent. I would find it hard to speak English with Polish accent.

Love what she said about the accents, I have a heavily accent in English (I’m Brazilian) I understand 100% Spanish but when I speak isn’t Spanish, it’s Portunhol 😂

Oh that's surprising. I did hear that it's easy for those who speak Portuguese and Spanish to understand each other. I assumed it would be easy to speak it too. Yes, what she said about accents is encouraging.

I speak both Portuguese and Spanish, but I kinda hate it because its ruined the way I speak in both languages, because some words can be so similar that I will say a Spanish word in Portuguese and vice-versa. People then laugh and that absolutely destroys my confidence, despite both being my native languages.

I think it’s more the fluidity with which you speak & your clear knowledge of verb tenses & vocabulary that usually seems pretty advanced from the get go.

My whole family speaks Spanish fluently (Mexico) and I'm half white on my dad's side (idk his side, never did) but I was never really taught Spanish. I only picked up a few words and slang from my cousins but I can't tie all if it together to form conversational topics. I'm truly jealous of your fluency 😭

5:43 as a Mexican, duh, we love our cursing. I’m a nurse in the twin cities in MN. When talking in Spanish, like to a patient who doesn’t speak English, I have to watch what I say when they ask personal questions. Because then I get too comfortable and have used some not-so-nice word in front of little old Mexican ladies. XD looool

Es gracioso porque yo empecé a aprender hace... Casi 6 meses ahora. Y puedo entenderte perfectamente sin subtitulos. Mas que eso estoy en el trabajo (trabajo en un hospital) hablando con compañeros latinos todos los dias. Pero ya he llegado a un punto peligroso. Porque soy intermedio. No puedo entender todo. Y si quiero mejorar, tengo que estudiar mas. Pero no quiero hacer eso cuando puedo hablar con gente en español XD Espero que tienes consejos para ellos que son intermedios y no pueden forzarse a estudiar. Y pues. Me ayudaste mucho Nate.
