It's my understanding is that selling promos, unless they were traded in, is illegal. My LGS owner showed me the massive box of promos he hasn't been able to get rid of and I asked him why he hasn't tried to sell them. his answer was essentially that he can't and doesn't want to be a shady store owner.

I have only 1 LGS to choose from. And it's 30 minutes away from my house. Thank god the store is so good!

this series is probably the best thing here.

I only recently got into magic and the store I played at felt intimidating as hell. The format was Pioneer and I'm sitting there with my Walmart Spellslinger deck (mono Red) and I get to play someone who was explaining the economy and atmosphere of MTG. That's when he asked me how many packs I bought from the store tonight and I said "Oh, I'm just here to play this deck I have. I've seen some youtube videos and I'm learning." He gives me a look and for some reason I felt unincluded and the owner didn't really care when I asked him about future events. Apparently the guy I talked to worked at the shop and flagged me as a non paying customer. Not a criminal offense, but it also meant that I was that weird uncle who showed up to the family dinner uninvited. I guilted myself into buying some card sleeves, played one game and left. I lost and I actually enjoyed the game while playing, but apparently it was a cardinal sin to buy from anywhere but this shop and I was begrudgingly allowed to play. I can't adequately describe the atmosphere but there was this feeling that I was the 19th wheel on an efficiently operating 18 wheeler truck. That was 2 weeks ago and I haven't played another game of Magic since. Shame too, seems like a product that is more about the community than the cards themselves, and I got to meet a choice selection of that particular community.

It's interesting. It's fun to listen to stories about what to do to players you hate. :)

to be fair I got caught with 8 cards in my hands once at a LGS and I felt horrible I was so nervous as it was my first standard event if I remember correctly that I drew too much, gave the guy the round when we realised I fluffed it felt horrible about it since so now I have to out loud count out my hand to make sure I don't overdraw, I just get so nervous I make play mistakes where I lose because of em or I don't think of a combo I could do, idk why but at fnm I am a mess of errors, haven't overdrawn since but hell I did it by accident and I felt like shit, then again I think I was like...15? IDK but overdrawing is a problem, just thought I could tell my story of how I embarrassed myself horribly at FNM XD Now I just play gimmic artifact decks cause they are funny to watch work, anyways have a great day guys!

I didn't read all the comments to see if someone else already pointed this out but, the Ensoul Artifact combo isn't that uncommon to pull off. I ran this exact combo in an old deck when Tarkir was in standard (not a net deck, though) and I usually was able to have an Ensouled artifact by turn two. If you calculate the probabilities, having 4 each of the Citadels, Thopters, and Ensoul Artifacts, there's a ~15.2% chance (or roughly 1 in 6 games) to get the full combo in your opening hand (at least one artifact, the aura, and two islands). From there, it's a ~21.9% chance to get the combo on first draw (1 in 5 games), ~28.8% on second draw, and ~35.5% on the third draw (1 in 3). It should also be noted that these numbers assume a perfectly randomized shuffle. That said, while statistically they shouldn't get the combo every game, the probability is still high enough that sloppy shuffling could make the combo occur more often.

#HillsideGames4Life I love my LGS Hillside Games because I am new I have only played twice and the tournaments were chill so No one ever cheated as far as I knew, I mean someone had a deck that was 1/2 illegal for standard the tournament I play in. But I mean someone gave me a free 7 card mulligan (We agreed after I learned that it wasn't standard tournament rules that for that one game I would get a free 7 card mulligan, still lost to him though) Then this one guy let me build my board state giving me like 6 turns of no attacks from him (Removal and spells that damage or tap or whatever were allowed)
