Retail Karens have become infamous on the internet this year, and I can't be happier that they are finally getting their comeuppance. Thank you Goldthunderx for the suggestion!

If you are working at Walmart and you have a Karen whining about having to wear a mask . At the receipt checker at the door . The Karen demands a Manager . Tell them "go to customer service and ( Waite in line for 10 minutes) and ask to speak to the manager Of course later the manager will cuss you out for sicking a Karen on him

I was in a mall four years ago waiting in line to get a milkshake from Hagen-Das. The guy in front me began yelling at the young girl that made his drink wrong, do I decided to interject. I explained to the guy that while he can be upset about his drink being wrong, it doesn't give him the right to abuse and yell at the girl, rather it'd be a lot easier for her to fix the problem if you just allow her to correct it. The guy stopped yelling, got his drink and left. The girl gave me a gold card that gives me 20% off at any store, so I guess I did a good thing. Moral is, you don't need to tell at people to get your way.

I work on cars, been at it for almost 20 years. A few years back I had a weird customer. I quickly realized he was messing with me, wasting time, changing up what hes looking for once I find it. "Oh left side? I meant passenger side" etc. So I quickly changed my tone and got stern. He flipped a bitch and asked to speak to my boss. I look WAY younger than I really am, and he took me for a young dumb kid. Little did he know I had been working there almost 15 years(by that point) and I could smell his bullshit. My boss laughed at him and took my side right away without even hearing my side of the story haha. Moral of the story Karens come in all shapes and sizes.

So this more happened to my coworker than me, but I was involved. Right after I clocked in, this Karen was asking me why an item rang up wrong and upon investigating I found somebody had stocked something similar in that items spot and she had the wrong item. I showed her the sale spot for the item where the correct item was and informed her that item would ring up correctly. A few minutes later one of the cashiers came to the back room sobbing to her boyfriend and asking me what I told Karen. Karen claimed I had told her as an apology she could take as many of that item as she wanted for free and started screaming and swearing at the checkout when she was asked to pay for the item. The cashier got emotional and started screaming and swearing back and ultimately just threw the item at Karen, telling her to just take it and go and then left the register crying to find her boyfriend to be comforted and grill me. I didn't say anything that could be misconstrued as that. Karen called a few hours later though and apologized for lying and upsetting the cashier, but she didn't come back to pay for her items. So decide for yourself how sorry she really was and what she felt guilty for. I still think she was an entitled Karen that didn't want to buy her stuff, but "didn't want anybody to get hurt"

I think in that sort of environment people are more willing to share positive feedback because they're seeking a solution (collaborative problem-solving leads to a more personable relationship), rather than a service (where the employee typically acts as a middleman, and therefore can easily be dehumanized)...? Not that it's an excuse for shitty behavior either way.

I have dealt with Karens at my job. I work at a public library, and many times I have had Karens insist that they returned a book or DVD on time when they in fact returned the items late, and then they refused to pay the late fee. They’d ask to see the library manager who’d tell them the exact same thing as I or the other librarians told them. All that drama over a 25 cent fine! Funny thing is my mom’s name is Karen! But thankfully she’s nothing like the Karens in this video.

Haggling is common in some countries. In vietnam you'll actually get screwed over by street vendors if you take the price that they tell you so you basically have to haggle. However this is quite embarrassing when my vietnamese mother goes into stores and does just what you describe. Maybe not at walmart but when we went to get a couch at Dania she asked for a discount like 20 times!

I worked with some folks at my job who were mute, so we were using a couple methods to communicate since they were looking to get a couple macbooks, office, and some accessories for both of them. We must've worked together for an hour and a half and after everything, they were so grateful that they wanted to speak to a manager to tell them how well I was doing. Funnily enough, my manager on duty at the moment could sign so I felt kinda dumb after everything, but I felt really good about that. Not to toot my own horn, but if someone who can't speak is willing to tell a manager how well you did, I think that most everyone could stand to do the same. Make someone's day or week or even month. Great vid, man.

I had one lady towards the end of a shift who was struggling with the credit card machine, first saying yes to cashback so I told her to press the red X button. Then when she wanted to go to credit, I said the yellow key but she pressed the red X again. “Ma’m, you just canceled it” “You told me to press X” Then I did say frustrated what she did wrong and I could tell this upset her because I was speaking a little louder. So after everything, she waited at the service desk for a minute for the supervisor to complain about me. But he wasn’t there so she came back to me and was *furious* with how “rude” I was. Then proceeded to bitch at me for 30 seconds about how rude I was, hoe she hasn’t been here in years, etc. I don’t really see the goal of this, why she was *this* angry with someone who just told her what she did wrong. “Oh, this person spoke up to me. He should be fired.” I honestly feel like she would say something along those lines. All this accomplished was making me really angry and even when writing this I’m still angry And *THEN* there was one guy who was getting really angry over Chex Mix. One bag still had a “3 for $4” sticker on it from last week and he was getting really angry at me for not giving him that price (after he talked to one stock guy about this). One thing he said was “IF YOU’RE ADVERTISING THAT PRICE, YOU NEED TO GIVE ME THAT PRICE!” And when in a daze I tried to take the sticker off “DON’T TAKE IT OFF! GET ME YOUR MANAGER!” So I did and then he said some of the same shit to him. My supervisor basically told me to give it to him, just to get him out of there Both of these people I just wanted to tell them to fuck off

Another thing that Karens fail to realize is that they make anybody who happens to be with them at the time an unwitting accomplice to their Karenning. I once went out for lunch with my boss at a Chinese restaurant near the office where I used to work and he got into it with a server over the number of wontons they put in his soup. I was mortified because it was a restaurant that I went to by myself all the time.

A Karen story which happened infront of me in a cinema. We were kinda late to a movie , movie startet in like 2 min (at least the adds etc. the time on the ticket.) We decided that we wouldnt mind to be kinda late and decided to grab some overpriced snaccs. Infront of us were like 20 ppl cause a lot of ppl had the same idea. 10 min after we were in the line, an adult man arrived with his kid. He started to yell at the poor woman who gave out the snaccs. WHY DOES IT TAKE SO LONG? HOW IN THE WORLD SHOULD I MAKE IT IN TIME BEFORE THE MOVIE STARTS? ARE YOU ALL RETARDED? Luckily she wasn't having it and straightly said: do you see the people in front of you? I can't do miracles. Especially what do you expect when you come after offical movie begin anyways!? You know Fanta.....i seen "Karen's" all the time especially when I'm shopping at a Best Buys. Always a white suburban mom, with 2 or 3 little kids either begging for a new game or new system.....or like you said doing "Returns". "Karen's" knows very little about gaming consoles, 65 Inch Flat Screens, Music / DJ equipment, or best sounding ear plugs. When a sale Associate try to explain return policies, or a particulate deal on a product. Again like you said, they demand to speak with a store manager. Now here's the crazy part, when a store manager gives a damn & come out from the back , after her ranting & berating a Sales Associate i seen managers side with the mom & she skate off with a fast refund or exchange a product that's more or less than its priced. Just to get her out the store. Crazy huh ? (By No Means We not making any fun with girls named Karen. Karen is a name retail customers use because Karen is so American Plain Janes causing scenes to get over).....

I worked in a call center for 14 months back in 2008 and 2009. A couple of times people would call up and drop names of the higher ups at the outsourced agency that I worked at. This was the most nerve wracking kinds of calls. I had just come back from lunch, and answered my first call, and before I could even ask the customer what he wanted he began spouting off everyone from the supervisor on up. I didn’t even get a chance to see what he wanted and hung up in a panic. The person called back and got someone else, and eventually was transferred to the call center supervisor. I just stood there like a deer in headlights for several minutes. The supervisor that the guy talked to sent me right out on another break. I could never understand why the guy didn’t just call the person at the agency who was higher up instead of calling the call center and impose himself on all of us like he had something to scare all of us about. I had a lot more bad callers throughout the year that eventually forced me to change careers, but this particular caller is the one who really stood out.

Very often they will say to me that I am one ☝🏽 of the few that EVER do it. Not sure why? It seems to be the right and natural thing to do to me. I'm a 6'2" brawny, fit dude. But my in-head Karen moment is when I'm gorilla-shopping for an item all over town And every store that doesn't have it says, "Oh, check Amazon." In my head I'm like, "I know it's on Amazon! I wouldn't be driving all over town of I didn't want it noaw!" lol. Thanks, Fanta. Good times!

3:15 it originated in the 2000s from those chain mail things. I remember my parents getting emails of tips to save money at the store. Things like mailing or calling manufacturers and asking for them to send you special coupons and then combining them with your weekly grocery newspaper coupons to get paid to buy some items especially after you look for damaged product (dented cans or boxes, bruised or slightly moldy fruit, wilted greens, etc) or allege acceptable or perfect quality product is not acceptable and insist they reduce the price. Supposedly the author was making like 20 dollars a month or something from shopping by combining all the shopping tips. Everything in those emails were things that make you a terrible person, I'm convinced whoever did that was an asshole that wanted retail workers to suffer even more and they succeeded, bits and pieces of that information spread far and wide.

Thank you based Fanta for encouraging Karen shaming 🙏 I'm always disappointed when I see someone acting like an ass at a gas station and nobody else in the store speaks up. I called a guy a dick for chewing out a couple attendants because his pump didn't turn on when he expected... his biceps were big enough to rip me in half, so maybe it wasn't the smartest decision, but I stand by my choice.

I had a male Karen yell at me when I worked in the deli of my store because I took too long to get to him I guess (I had to make a phone call to the store manager because a substitute cleaner was lost). he lost his shit even more when I pulled out my phone and handed it to the other employee because the store manager was calling me while I was serving him (keeping in mind I was literally the only person working the deli). to my fucking astonishment, there was a woman behind him yelling at him for giving me a hard time. when the dude went to go get the manager she defended me and said I was just trying to do my job. makes me loose less hope in this world

My favorite thing to do when I say I want to talk to the manager is seem pissed off and upset. Then turn around and tell the manager that their employees did an awesome job and that the employees are great. And to keep it up. I'm an asshole. But I'm a nice asshole.

I have a fun story about a special breed of Karen: The Cat Lady. On black friday, most cans of fancy feast were marked 8 cents off for the day. For the entire holiday season they were all 6 cents off, so we put the black friday stickers on top to remove them the next morning. Simple as. Well, the next monday Karen comes in and buys a dozen pairs of different flavors of fancy feast. We ring them up and they're 6 cents off. She has a FIT. Turns out the sticker guy forgot to take those tags down. Okay, fine, we'll change them for you. No big deal. 8 cents off for you. For some reason, one of her pairs was never on the black friday sale. (Some gravy one, irc.) This lady was such a monumental bitch that my manager spitefully wouldn't change those two from 6 cents to 8 cents, but offered to grab a different pair. NOPE! Negotiation is for losers. Yeah, my manager was kinda petty but we're tired the monday after black friday and this lady was insane. She swore and stomped and made an enormous scene. Over 4 cents.
