Shigmo is a culmination of Goan stories, folklore, and folk dances woven beautifully into Goa’s Culture and traditions.
Shigmo or Shigmotsav happens during the Phalgun month in the Hindu calendar.
The time during the Holi festival is when Shigmo activities commence in Goa. Each village has its own way of prayer and celebration.
With 'Tales of Goa', we are excited to bring you these stories from various villages in Goa.
This video combines the information I collected about the Homkund festival and the clips I and my team shot across Goa.

Shigmo..is called sugrishmaka.. it is as old as the agriculture in the konkan region..please do not make statements like shigmo originated in 16th century without research..u had done the same in one of ur Ganesh chaturthi video. Ur efforts r good but u sure lack research..rest everything i absolutely am fan of ur videos Another thing.. dhaklo shigmo is for the farming communists..other communities from goa like bhat,baman,vaani and shet too celebrate shigmo.. which is vhadlo shigmo and is basically related to their temples which is little different from the dhaklo shigmo.. basically dhaklo shigmo is celebrated by the bahujan (which only means the masses and doesn't not have any negative meaning to it) the very word jati itself is a positive word.. as it refers to group of ppl as a whole.. together ,United for their occupation or other reasons.. m stressing on it as u stressed on the words caste.. creed n religion..n yes chorao( chodan) island is my ancestral land.. it was the first place to be christianised.. n yes PPL who r not hindu now have still retained the old memories ..societal memories.... So this caste creed religion words do not make any sense here.. u might find me harsh n blunt.. but let the truth be not whitewashed and our brutal history not be sugar coated

Hi, First of all, thank you so much for your valuable feedback, Sir. As I was reading your feedback, it seemed very ambiguous to me as you seem to have lots of knowledge, however, your name and identity are hidden. Hence I am assuming the title of 'Sir'. To address your comments one by one, Sir. The information that I have mentioned in the video, is by referring to proof and talking to researchers, and experts from the village. Even you would know, most of the Goan stories are not documented and are based on folklore. My intent is to take these stories and share them, with as much proof as possible. If you can help me with the source of your information and knowledge, I would be happy to make the required corrections. Would love to see your proof to back your claim of Shigmo being as old as agriculture. Secondly, I am no one to educate anyone on jati. My reference to caste, creed, and religion is based on the facts told to me by the village headmen that the festival of homkund is open to all men. I felt that mentioning the festival is open to all men irrespective of caste, creed, and religion was the best way to do it. This is based on personal interpretation. Not sure why you would confuse it with something else, like Christianity on Chorao. Maybe re-watching the video would help you understand my intent. Sometimes it helps to re-watch things and avoid misunderstandings. Thirdly, don't worry about being harsh and blunt, I have faced a lot of criticism and backlash in life. Perks of being a content creator, everyone wants to prove you wrong and everyone feels they know better. It's a part and parcel of life, and I am cool with it. Finally, speaking about whitewashing and sugar coating, if you feel that, then I am sorry, but I do not agree with you. I am not making content to make anyone happy or to cause doubt in people's minds. My content is to promote awareness about Goan Culture & Traditions, which are known by a handful of people in Goa and India. Please do not mind my words, Sir.
