I think war is not over yet. Only thing that changed is scenario. It's true that western power has left as well as lost the war but Islamic state & Amarulla Saleh have filled the place which western power left. The biggest question is How will Taliban run the government in Afghanistan. Because neither Talban have experience nor they have money. Second question is who will provide them money?? Because Pakistan don't have capacity to assist Taliban financially. China has no interest in benevolence/welfare activities, they only recognise buisness & profit. So it will be difficult for China to deal with Taliban. Third question is, Does Taliban have any credibility in international community?? Because even if world Community decide to recognise Taliban government yet it will be difficult to co-operate with them, because taliban are not civilized, and they will never abandon militant idiology. So it is clear that western power are the looser but Taliban is not the winner. Picture is not clear in Afghanistan. I guess it will take time to clear the scenario in Afghanistan. kistan

@@anoopshukla9375 India is the biggest looser not western world. You are simply beating around the bush to cover up Indian humiliating defeat at the hands of Taliban. Grapes seem to be sour. Ironically your vision of Afghanistan is still blurry. Indian presence in Afghanistan was not for humanitarian work but to create another permanent hot front for Pakistan. You lost billions mate. Pakistan has assured UN uninterrupted supply of food and essential items to Afghanistan. At present many of our industrial units produce exclusively for Afghanistan. For example, A good number of flour mills operate for Afghan market. If we cannot give them cash we can provide them goods and services on deferred payment basis. Other neighbors will also provide financial assistance after recognition. Western world will have no option but to recognize Taliban Government. All Afghan neighbors ( India is not a neighbor) China, Russia, Iran, Pakistan and Central Asian countries are going to recognize and Afghanistan will become a darling of the region. Afghanistan is a gateway to Central Asia. China has planned investment of 60 billion dollars. Russians have also committed to develop Afghanistan. A new era of peace and development is emerging. Don't underestimate Afghans. They know how to run the country and eliminate crimes from the society. Neighbors will provide expertise if needed. They will run the state better than many of the 195 sovereign states. You should not have any qualms for Afghanistan. You are pinning your hopes on Amar Ullah Saleh. Actually, son of Ahmed Shah Masood matters and he is negotiating with Taliban for bigger role in power sharing. Saleh will be finally eliminated. All neighbors are playing their role to bring peace between different factions. Anoop Shukla it is time for Indians, Americans and NATO to lick their wounds. Your game is up.

Let's wait 2 years and see how much 'love' taliban will have remaining for Pakistan :) India wasn't doing anything in Afg/pak, proof is the fact that you just had a blast in balochistan on Chinese, even when there are no Indians left in Afg. In fact a taliban fully in control of Afg can be good for India in many ways : - you won't have any leverage on Afg any more. Taliban won't be in your control - US won't be easy on you, as they won't need your airspace and bases for Afg any more. And the aid money will end too. Sanctions may come. - you will have to front the bill for whatever happens in afg now - Durand line issue - TTP - isis-k - you are not the only player there - now China, Iran, Russia will all jostle for power and control in that region Indians are in fact happy..

The interviewer came with a script and wanted it endorsed by the honorable guest in a hurried manner, kind of disrespectful. Well we can have some conclusions. Firstly, the Taliban were not created by ISI. Secondly ISI played alongside Taliban while RAW sided with the Northern alliance which certainly was openly helped by the CIA. Thirdly both the CIA and RAW had 20 years to achieve their goals and had enough resources and technology. The sudden collapse of the Afghan government is a clear failure of CIA and Pentagon. Soon the American people will raise this question. We may see some corruption stories in the US. Fourthly the Afghan rulers were never sincere and honest to the nation. The foot soldiers refused to fight for a corrupt regime. Lastly, the NATO members would never trust the US again. Except for the UK maybe.

Karan Ji, The selection of the NDS and Afghan troops was based on the reference, clan, tribe. There was no tests, Interviews and some selection procedures. Many foreigners even from Iran and other neighboring countries was also inducted due to relations and bribes in the troops. The second was the training and promotions were on the basis of again political pressures and tribes' links. 2ndly the training was not to fight as per local satiation but was based on Air support. So it became easy for them to run away on 15 August when there was no Air Support. Most of the episode consisted of Hypothesis. Mr Benerji's , was also not certain for various items. Karan: you missed the important part of establishment of many Indian councilors offices, training, planning and execution of terror attacks inside Pakistan from 2002 to 2018 and handling/ helping of different Organizations, NDS to attacks in side Pakistan and also how 18 billion dollars were financed for terrorism in 18 years. He honestly said the origin of taliban was for a good cause of ending extortions etc. He also honestly mentioned that ISI may not have been that much instrumental in fall of Kabul this time and much of it was due to low morale of ANA. India has tied itself in knots. It failed to engage with the Taliban to become a player in Afghanistan. New Delhi’s entire strategy was based on America’s continuous presence and longevity of the Afghan government. *There has been a monumental intelligence failure.* *India failed to appreciate the real intent of America, the strength of the Taliban and the weakness of the corrupt elected government. It went out of its way to support a government that was busy striking deals with the Taliban and engineering the collapse of its own army.* Even the erstwhile leaders of the Northern Alliance, on whom we were relying to stand up to the Taliban, went to Pakistan and did not come to us to safeguard their interests once the Taliban marched in. *If that was not enough, we post-haste withdrew our embassy on 17 August when hundreds of citizens are still stranded in Afghanistan.* Intelligence of impending terrorist attacks by Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Haqqani Network has been cited as the primary reason. The Taliban had reached out to India requesting not to withdraw its embassy, assuring protection. An attack on any embassy would have signalled the end of the legitimacy of Taliban 2 even before it could take shape. We could have negotiated better security from the Taliban. The presence of our embassy would have not only helped in mending fences with the Taliban but also safeguarding the interests of our citizens, Hindu and Sikh Afghan citizens and Afghan friends seeking asylum. We should have left behind a diplomatic team at the Kabul airport, which is under US forces, to coordinate the evacuation. *Foreign minister S. Jaishankar compounded the problem by publicly announcing that priority would be given to evacuation of Hindu and Sikh Afghan citizens.* We lost the goodwill of our Afghan friends and the Taliban stopped 72 Afghan Hindu and Sikh citizens from leaving the country. The evacuation has since resumed through the Taliban and US goodwill. *Despite having very seasoned diplomats, India flouted all tenets of realpolitik,* which is driven by national interests and not ideologies of other nations or our own, in dealing with the Taliban. More so, when we have no qualms in dealing with Islamic Arab states, Pakistan and Iran who also follow their own version of the sharia law. We continue to deal with dictatorships and Communist regimes whose record on human rights do not measure up to international norms. Even our own record in dealing with minorities and on human rights has been put on notice by the international community. In my view, the ideology of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the perceived feeling of humiliation due to radical Islam and our adversaries - Pakistan and China - having got the better of us in Afghanistan have brought about our foreign policy paralysis. Sadly, the BJP did not miss the opportunity to exploit the situation for domestic politics. Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Somnath may be a coincidence, but indirectly alluding to Mahmud of Ghazni, at this juncture, was hardly in order. There is an urgent requirement to make amends and make our presence felt in Afghanistan. Subject to the Taliban forming an “inclusive government” and living up to its promised moderate avatar with respect to terrorism and human rights, as Plan *A we must engage with the Taliban and in due course recognise them after a decent interval.* Out of the box, we could immediately promise substantial aid and gain advantage of the first mover by being one of the first to recognise the Taliban. As Plan B, if Taliban 2 regress back to Taliban 1, I must repeat what I said earlier, “As a worst case, India should have the will and patience to shape the history to repeat itself.” Lt Gen H S Panag PVSM, AVSM (R), t.co/0sGtesc3DF

I thought I'll learn a thing or two but this interview like shooting darts in the dark. For starters Bannerji is treating the Pashtun tribal hierarchy like the Hindu caste system, which is simply laughable. Secondly , Afghan Taliban are portrayed as having no brains if their own. There is no nuance here, as in how Pakistani Pashtuns in the Army and ISI have an incomparable understanding of the ground situation and reality. Either R&AW sitting 1000s of miles away iss taking random guesses and connecting invisible dots, or this interview is a deliberate attempt to portray ignorance and mislead those watching that RAW knows nothing about what goes between ISI and the Taliban. The cluelessness is comfortabing to watch but should be treated as a deliberate ploy.
