Taliban 1.0 Pretending to be Taliban 2.0, Takeover an Undoubted Setback for India: Shyam Saran

Күн бұрын

In a detailed and comprehensive interview that both analyses the developing situation in Afghanistan whilst discussing India’s response and what it should hereafter do, one of the country’s most highly regarded former foreign secretaries have said this is “an undoubted setback for India, there is no other way of describing it.” Shyam Saran also said, “the biggest winner is Pakistan”. In fact, he described the Taliban take-over of Afghanistan as “a Taliban invasion sponsored and abetted by Pakistan” and added that without the support of the Pakistan army and ISI the Taliban could not have swept through Afghanistan with the speed at which they did.
In a 45 minute interview with Karan Thapar for The Wire, Mr. Saran said the collapse of the Ghani government and the shattering images of the withdrawal from Kabul is “humiliating” for America. He said the US “image and credibility as an ally has been greatly damaged.”

Then India got back the answer. What Pak could not damage in 70 years this RSS ideology did in 7 years. Its as simple as it should, peace or war. This so called RSS leader Modi in whole his life did not even dare to face the free media, he built building and wants to occupy the whole country. Here one particular aspect has been highlighted as an indication as to how Afghans fear Taliban how desperately wanted to leave Afghanistan as evident from the scenes at Kabul airport. I would appreciate opinion of both Mr. Thapar and Mr. Sham to the following question: If an announcement is made in peaceful and relatively prosperous Mumbai that those who want go to US without fulfilling any requirement should proceed to Mumbai airport; would the scene have been any different? Appreciate your opinion if you believe in fair play. US is considered as a land of opportunities and Afghanistan has been struggling economically. So the rush to go to US was natural!

Absolutely terrific insights Aghan situation by Mr S. Saran. Thank you, sir. My assessment is as follows. Over the years Aghan governments under leadership of both Kasia Ghani has been hopeless. Both equally corrupt and incompotent . America ran no option at end. To pave a way face saving Americans unwillingly made " peace arrangment" with Taliban to get itself out Afghanistan with a degree its reputation intact. The pull out process resulted in a terrible and humidity optics to American power and credibility her among friends and foes alike in the world. It will take to time recover from this nasty jolt. China must be elated to lecture and warn Tiawan that this is what America does to you when push comes to shove.

its interesting , at one moment he is defending that India government decision to bring back the ambassador and diplomats before all citizens of India based on security threats...leaving 500 + Indians over there at the dependency of US and other partner countries. Embassy being closed, where will the Indians go? If the security threat was imminent to Indians, all Indians should be advised to leave before closing the embassy. and on the other side, he is having adverse view of USA leaving and closing the embassy and speculating the possibility of Taliban or other groups to use USA people as hostage. That can happen with Indians as well. In the other interview on the same subject, other ex. foreign secretary gave better view of India handling of Afghanistan situation. he clearly indicated that India's step to close the embassy was an error.

In this pandemic, the regular trips to US and UK and the perks associated with it must have waned but even then the zeal to remain a colonial/ imperial apologist remains! Invasion enabled by Pakistan only? And `terrible incompetence' of Uncle Sam notwithstanding, there is no effort to discuss, let alone understand, whether there was any US complicity! What was the deal between US and Taliban? Who was the ally of Pakistan throughout the period when Pakistan was allegedly training and providing logistical support to the Taliban? Who funded and trained the Mujahedeen in the eighties, who brutally killed Afghan president Najibullah in a violent takeover, to be eventually replaced by the Taliban within a couple of years? Who selected the thoroughly incompetent head of state, who was residing in the US, before being parachuted to Kabul? The answer to all these questions is the same! And yet not a word on them?! The one point where Hindutva forces and India's liberal elites agree 100% is their bhakti towards Uncle Sam!!

Nothing, absolutely nothing has changed. . We muslims neither can nor do change our way of life. Our way of life (religion) is divine. Though there may be difference of understanding of our way of life amongst us. Our way of life (religion) is not going to be changed according to the wishes of the world.
