The LAN makes total sense as long as reviewers are free to be honest about sets in their reviews. I've heard others say that LAN members will just like everything because they are told to be positive. Anyone who has watched your reviews over the years knows that's not the case. As long as reviewers can continue to be honest about the products they receive, LAN is a positive system. People are jealous of any kind of success and will always look for ways to tear people down and accuse them of getting a free ride. Many of those people aren't prepared to put in any work themselves. Very informative video, thanks for making it.

Reviewers are not free to be honest. LAN is advertising for LEGO so they don't want negative reviews. Reviewers receive "free" LEGO to both advertise for LEGO and as an incentive to give a good review. LEGO doesn't want their products to be seen in a negative light, so while a reviewer may give a few softball cons to a provided set, you will never see a reviewer trash a provided set because this would reflect badly on LEGO, and the reviewer could lose their LAN status.

@cdnron75 Tiago is pretty harsh on a lot of lego products. I'm assuming he is definitely a LAN member. Maybe it's possible that LAN members just like most of the sets? People are entirely too critical these days.
@cdnron75
@cdnron75 6 ай бұрын
@@diniboI'm not sure if Tiago is or not. Or maybe it's that LAN members only review sets that they like because they don't want to say anything bad about LEGO that could get them in trouble. There's nothing wrong with being critical, and it actually encourages change if it's positive criticism.

I head up a global Marketing team and you're exactly right. This is such a cheap, easy and very lucky way LEGO can market. Using your following (the most targeted market ever), over all your channels, with engaging content made by you.... this is worth so much if you were to do it via paid / internally, literally £10000's and you would never get the real, organic nature to it. I'm so glad you understand this as you're previous video I was worried that you didn't respect your worth in the marketing game they play. You own it! I totally reject the wording they sent you about the leaks. The hype and getting people talking is all part of the game of marketing, they expect it and capitalise on it! You just made a 0.3 sec mistake and added to this side of their hype machine without meaning to it. Totally reject the response. You are so valuable, much more than some free sets, so I glad you understand this! Keep being you... I love your content, Lego or not. Alex

Being on probation is, in my opinion, the best thing that could have happened to you and your channel. The advantage of having sets early, is no advantage, when, like you said, you speak your mind but mainly on things that already align with how LEGO would like to be seen and you leave out topics like the high price for a set because you got the set for free. I would like to suggest that you use those six months of probation to see how this actually affects your channel - my assumption is it won't change a thing for you. And if that is the case, leave the LAN program, buy those 10-15% of sets yourself when you feel like it and review them then. The workload you describe, that doesn't seem to be reviewed but is required anyway, can be used to create other content that is more focused on the actual hobby and not on the company and you also won't have to deal with people who 'hate' you because you get LEGO for free which, I assume, will bring much more positivity into your community because their argument falls flat while your opinions expressed will be considered more authentic. That's just my two cents. All the best for you!

I still believe you're better off without LAN. Sure you can make reviews and embargo stuff, but there are so many of those out there - as you said. To me, your key competence is free building. Not family vlogging, though that can sometimes be a bit fun, not reviews, but creative thinking, and using your large space to explore LEGO. Go crazy in creativity. Make space and city com together, create time zones, themes, whatever creativity you can come up with. Heck. It's about the bricks, not embargo, prices, and the company thinking. I believe you've said it several times in the past. Your city is your channel. That is what draws most of your stabile viewers. But Bricksie, break out of that cardboard box and go crazy (and a sidenote: not everything has to be modular 😊 )

Happy New Year to you and yours, Jordan. Thanks for speaking your mind on this matter and not biting your tongue - As much as you love LEGO and it's your passion, you don't work for LEGO, even, if they have provided you with free sets and some opportunities (which you have, in turn, put in many hours of work, behind the scenes). Life evolves and changes, tastes sour and new opportunities will arise. Can you do the same thing forever? Do you want to? You got to do, what you want to do. I believe you've got this - chin up and 10 toes down, regroup and reconfigure, never lose sight of your mission/goal with your love of LEGO.

LAN still needs some reorganization and better management it seems. It’s been like that for years. Pretty shameful they didn’t pay for the trip in return for content. Plenty of other industries, like motorcycle companies for example, pay for entire trips and lend bikes to influencers for a month for them to generate content. Like I said before, LAN needs you more than you need them. Keep up the great work and happy new year!

Paid press junkets are indeed common in other industries, but I'm glad Lego hasn't gone there yet. That would be dragging everything further down the slope of questionable motives/integrity. It's already shady how many big Lego channels get early free sets from Lego but don't mark their videos with the "Paid Promotion" flag. I'm not sure how KZfaq defines it, but from what I know of US FTC rules, they're on shaky ground by not more prominently disclosing that. Perhaps an expert could weigh in? For my part, I much prefer and respect KZfaq channels that are 100% independent. I know their views--good, bad, or ugly--are not being influenced by sponsors. Unfortunately, a huge amount of KZfaq and social media all orbit around one form of advertising or another: so much of it is about trying to get people to buy stuff. I feel bad for all the kids who group up with this stuff and don't even recognize that.

You have 400,000 followers. Imagine being in a room with that many people! Of couse there will be critics when you get this huge but 400,000 is undeniable talent! Keep your head held high! Bricksie had a little LAN little LAN…. What attracted me to this channel is exactly this type of videos. Especially the ones in which you speak about how you started and how you make money from your platforms and how you set up your company. The adult side of AFOL is what is great about your content together with your honesty and candor. The Lego group set up the interview time and table. They should have thought of the shot and the content coming from that. Personally you took responsibility in a great way but they have a big part in the mistake as well. .3 seconds in an interview shot they set up ?!

I watch your channel, firstly attracted by last year's winter village build as I had been buying it and you inspired me to actually build it, turning the individual buildings into a village which is what I needed. I kept on watching because you are engaging, enthusiastic and have a great city which provides inspiration to people on how to combine all the individual buildings produced by Lego into something spectacular. I agree Lego should read the comments from the public if they really want feedback from customers. I know as a Barbie collector, I wish Mattel read feedback or discussions on Facebook groups to know what fans really want. I thought Lego would have a department that followed social media to see what fans are actually saying. Keep up the good work, thanks for teaching me about PAB walls that's the first thing I look at when I actually go to a Lego store.

In a way, when you become a LAN, you are (kinda) an employee of Lego that gets paid in Lego sets in a way. I think that’s a better way of thinking of it. Like working for a company, to get paid and enjoy the perks, you have to do a certain amount of work, and behave in a certain way. If you don’t do the work or go against what your meant to do, then of course you will be punished or if it’s something big, will get thrown out. So no, it not easy being a LAN. Not everything’s easy, it’s not just free Lego without having to do anything.

In my own experience randomly coming upon your videos 2 years ago is what got me back into legos at 23 years old. And now I’ve probably spent 1000s on Lego. People just love to be jealous and envious of your position but I still think people of your position should get compensated even more for what yall bring to Lego and the amount of advertising yall do for them. Not getting paid a certain amount of money is a bit crazy and sad to hear Lego doesn’t even fully cover your trip. While Lego is a great company at times they sound like cheapskates but it’s worked out for them so can’t hate it

They should have paid you for going to Billund, as if Lego can not do that for some of their biggest advertisers. And I think because Lego is so heartless and big, if you are lan member is can effect you negative, as Lego is seen not so positive anymore. Especially in Europe many Lego fans are disappointed in the corporate behaviour of Lego and the decline in quality by ever rising prices. And because Lego it self is not doing social media seriously, you as an ambassador are the target of those feelings too.

I follow you because of your city--it's pretty impressive. You've done a fantastic job with it. As for LAN, I don't put a great deal of integrity in the reviews of those from LAN. I've honestly found that the best, most thorough reviews, come from non-LAN'ers. And often, I'm finding reviews on products I'm interested in, from non-LAN'ers before your embargo dates. As for free Lego sets, haters will hate. That's what the job gives. People work for compensation, this is the compensation. Not sure why people would talk smack about that. I really enjoy your channel because I enjoy watching how you and your family integrate your hobby into your lifestyle, whether that be through your family, your city, your shopping or your reviews. LAN is neither here or there for me as reason to watch your channel. Dude, you are simply a really nice, honest, real person who happens to enjoy the same hobby I do. As you noted yourself a leak hurts other LAN members - higher revenue is derived from an earlier review, it drives people to your channel, which in turn also helps the algorithm and the possibility of more subscribers. Any leak has the potential to hurt that opportunity for any LAN member and as a LAN member your responsibility is not only to Lego but to fellow LAN members, such as yourself and others. So it makes sense that Lego is strict on embargoes - to allow that opportunity for any LAN member wherever they be in the world whatever their size. The free comment is odd - I personally see LAN as symbiotic (sure Lego gets free marketing) but as you noted early reviews are important to you, so the algorithm/your business works for you. With the reports - what happens if your viewership drops off or if you just stop posting after a couple years? The content seems weird though, unless it is an online fillable report, then once approved they may collect the responses for each set and do some text analytics on it, looking for patterns and trends which would make sense. The communication - 100% with on that dude - I work for company that has around 15k employees and the communication sucks - it's just rubbish and I'm so with you on that ! I simply don't understand the nastiness and aggression people have toward Lego when the mistake is made by someone who is owning up to it. I too work for a living and if I make a mistake I own up to it, and I can't abide people who don't or who attempt to shift blame. I take too much pride in my work and myself to do that. So I tip my hat off to you and the 6 months will fly by.

Kudos Jordan for your honesty and for sharing. It would seem both you and the channel have outgrown the vehicle that is LAN. Onwards and upwards for you, your family, and the channel, regardless of whether LAN is a part of it. Cheers. 🍻

I think you absolutely deserve to be in LAN because you worked hard to get into that network. I follow numerous Lego KZfaqrs and my beef is seeing the same set reviewed over and over again. I have honestly never watched a review on a Lego set and ran out and bought it. If I see one review I usually skip the other KZfaqrs content on the same product so I think you could be losing views. I love watching you shop at the Lego store, all hyped up on new sets and you choosing which ones you love and then a short review. That being said I love your channel, I enjoy watching your family grow and wish you luck on all of your future endeavours. From: A Proud Albertan 😊. Go Oilers!!

Jordan don’t worry about people who are jealous of little things. There are always going to be people that have the expectation that they should be given stuff without working for it. You have worked hard to build your community, build a good reputation with the viewers of your channel and building your business. I enjoy your videos very much and look forward to seeing you grow over the years. Keep up the good work and forget about jealous haters!

Jordan, I’ll be the first to say I absolutely do not understand this world of ‘content creation’ and everything that goes with it, nor do I really want to, however, I do very much have experience of working in toxic work environments and listening to you talk about LAN just gives me red flags all over the show. I really hope this probation period has absolutely no impact on your business and that it gives you the confidence to ditch them with your head held high. Being lulled into feeling like you NEED what a company, or boss offers you can be a terrible place, I say that from personal experience. Tread you own path, and I really wish you all the best 🙏🏻 p.s, I follow you for you city, your ideas and what you did with your space, not day 1 releases 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Mate, your channel rocks. You genuinely deserve all the GOOD things that come your way. To put it bluntly, F the haters! You’ve remained wholesome and true to your fans and to LEGO. You are honestly one of my favourite KZfaqrs! Keep it coming and I’m really looking forward to your 2024 content!!

I would love to see a LAN member truly say how crap a set is. I follow and watch a lot of members and have never seen one say how bad something is. I mean let’s be real the set that was leaked is Ugly and truly looks like a trash panda. And it was leaked weeks before anyway . If Lego cared they would read and listen to feedback, but the sets just keep coming and cost more.

I was surprised that the Lego company did not pay for your travel and lodging expenses and give you a daily stipend for food. I believe the LAN is part of their advertising company and should be compensated as such. I know I have been influenced to purchase more Lego by watching your channel. Thank you for all you do and may you and your family have a wonderful 2024!

Bricksie, right around the 16 minute mark, paraphrases the great George Carlin joke "America's #1 industry is the manufacture, sale, packaging, distribution and advertisement of Bulls**t." and I'm here for it. I'm building up my Lego collection as a fun hobby, as play time with my kids, as a physical savings account, and building up content to one day join the LAN. For now, trying to form a Michigan LUG to get the LUG Bulk discount! Your content has helped me as a builder. We all win!

Well said Jordan, us as viewers we don't understand the hustle of being a full time youtuber,. the hours of filming and work , editing... all for a 10-20 video. Lego sells itself, it's people like you that influence us to push us to make decisions to make the purchase. If I am correct there is a high percentage of sets that don't land in the Lego City. In my opinion you channel is primarily based/focused on the Lego City. The entire Lego room is amazing, and the reviews are great, my boys always love seeing the changes you make in the city. I can see the frustrations with the haters, but that's the reality of being someone that people are jealous about. you mentioned RC truck... you got my attention.. lol I am into Super Scale building, what's you go to channel ? When we moved from Winnipeg to Calgary I somehow became good friends with Aaron from Rcsparks. I commend you for grinding and keep providing us with great content, and really looking forward to this 2500 square foot teaser you dropped on us . Keep up the good work, my son says for you to say hi to Ben and Milly. Take care,. see you in the next video. Bill

Thank you for making this video and clearing up misconceptions LAN needs to be revamped, it needs to be managed better. Something needs to happen Lego should pay for you coming down to Billund Reports should be taken seriously, its the best feedback they can get, they should read the comment section in the video Lego should tell ambassadors and in general tell people GWP price threshold and details in advance Congratulations on 400k!

That's fascinating. Thanks for the detailed insight, Jordan. One of my major irritations and frustrations in life is poor communication. The communication at Lego would have me tearing my hair out. I'm autistic, so the idea of sending you a GWP without the date of release or spend threshold is truly mind-boggling and well, not really good enough. Such fascinating insights. Thank you again for another excellent and informative video. It was also great to really see and feel your emotions and point of view. 10 out of 10! You're doing a brilliant job!

one titanic. the cost of them to make a titanic and package it and ship it is probably 30-40 dollars. also lego doesnt need to pay you a flat rate for advertisement because you are feeding off lego. lego is not feeding off you. Those barbecue guys you spoke of would cook well with any barbecue they get sponsored by, you dont have the same option with LEGO

No you don’t get free product, you have to work for it. Lego are getting advertising for the cost of a set. Much cheaper than if they had to advertise on tv . Also they are paying cost price when they send you lego so they are getting super cheap ads. The majority of us are well aware that this is a job for you and that you don’t just sit around playing with lego. Be strong , have a happy and healthy and prosperous new year to you and your family and all of your subscribers. 🎉love from Australia see you next year . Xx

Great video! I often think about starting a channel that is, of course, Lego centric, but to also dabble a little into nutrition and weight lifting as that is my main passion (Lego 2nd). But, with a full-time job, and frankly more than full-time at times, I completely understand the time and effort to pump out content and how many hours go behind the scenes. Maybe when the girls get older (5.5 and 3 now) since it could also be a father/ daughter thing and my SAHM/wife can edit when I'm at work....Sorry for making this comment about me as it's your channel, just my thoughts. But again, thank you for your daily entertainment and dedication!!

If I am honest, I tend to prefer content that is outside the scope of LAN. LEGO is releasing so many big, beautiful, expensive sets that I can only buy the ones I love at first sight, so I am less interested in review videos. When I do watch reviews, I watch non-LAN members to get a perspective that is less likely to be biased or guarded. You tend to "sell" me on products with your creativity, MOCs or modifications that help me see a set I might not have considered in a new or different way.
I Made a Mistake.
