I'll add one to the YOLO thesis....people who lost money in the stock market can say "If I can survive losing money, I may as well enjoy it"...we watched used goods prices go higher than new goods prices...if they're extrapolating from the past of government sending checks, they can extrapolate on their inflation expectations. Buy goods, make a bet that inflation supports nominal equity, and still be emotionally numb to losing equity if the bet doesn't pan out. Nevermind recent wage increases.
