Each Talking Heads album has its own sound, and is totally unique

This is one of the most enjoyable reactions I've seen. I love the Talking Heads and watching you completely falling in love with the band is like discovering them myself once again.

it's the great Adrian Belew( one of Zappa's guitarists, you've already seen and heard him with him and he was also in King Crimson) who shows off his avant-garde guitar wizardry by making it sound like a computer going wild, and a brilliant funky groove come together for the perfect opening. One of the best first extracts from one of the best albums!!!!

‘Remain in Light’ is both hypnotic and intoxicating, cited by Thom Yorke as an obsession that became a huge inspiration for them. ‘Radio Head’ is actually an earlier Talking Heads song he named the band after. David Byrne inducted them into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019 bringing the story full circle. There’s a phenomenal live performance of this song in Rome featuring Adrian Belew (Frank Zappa guitarist) which I will add to my next request list 🔥

I missed your Talking Head reactions!!! This song has a hypnotizing rhythm, and this guitar which sounds Synthetic, brings a funky side, the end really gives me some Fela Kuti's vibes!!! (In the reissue of" Remain in light,"as a bonus track there is a song called Fela's riff) THANKS !!!! This will never get old !!!

Once in a Lifetime same album! I’m pretty sure this was the explosive first track and they don’t fk around!😁 This was famously deeply influenced by Afrobeat polyrhythms which one can clearly hear, it marked the Heads transition from new wave minimalism to genre-fusing maximalism. Byrne was absolutely into the sounds of preachers. He collaborated with Eno for a great album that used recorded preachers (and others, including a beautiful Islamic call to prayer) “My Life in the Bush of Ghosts”

There’s another great full-circle story with this album. When the African pop musician Angelique Kidjo first started playing in NYC and no one knew her yet, Byrne came to one of her performances, dug it of course and encouraged her. I believe this was at SOBs which friends and I frequented. About 5 years ago Kidjo returned the favour by recording, releasing and touring her cover of the entire Remain in Light album. I caught this tour at Carnegie Hall and of course Byrne joined her for a couple songs.

Took a while to click for me but it's a fantastic song. That solo ain't a synth it's a guitar. Absolutly crazy. Once in a Lifetime was the same album. He watched preachers for inspiration with his line delivery.

I’ve always loved Talking Heads! I was in college when all these songs first came out. So glad you’re enjoying them, and appreciating their artistry. David Byrne, as I always say, is more than just a musician. On top of that he’s a visual artist, and performance artist. If you want to see more from him, more recently, you could take a look at the filmed show he brought to Broadway called David Byrne’s American Utopia. It’s simply a stage full of amazing musicians, and includes some of the best songs from Talking Heads, including Once In A Lifetime, Slippery People, Born Under Punches, and The Great Curve. He’s still got it.

for some strange reason some of it reminded me of Roxy Music and maybe we'll get you to do Avalon :)

Maybe because it was produced by Brian Eno, from Roxy Music.
