IDK what it is, but the way they hit the "MYYYY house" line right at 2:11 just makes the whole performance for me. They put everything they've got into that line.

Read Byrne's "How Music Works"; he talks about this problem, and the converse, of bands that sound great in the studio, but can't translate to stage. It's a non-trivial process.

This is my all-time favorite concert movie. No backstage antics, no interview backstage while the rest of the band is playing, interrupting the performance (in the film), just the band coming onstage, and in this case, David alone with a boombox, then the original members and finally the full band and they just play a great show! Beautifully filmed.

@@mitchellbaxter6314I saw it Saturday in Santa Cruz at the university's outdoor theater. So much fun. One interesting thing, when the band did their late night interviews with Fallon and Colbert, they didn't mention the backup singers or players. Or the Tom Tom Club.

That lead guitar player is Alex Weir. Man was/is awesome. A man for his playing time. Set the tone for those who came after.

Im a huge classic rock and jazz fan, that being said, I think Stop Making Sense is one of, if not THE, best concert film of all time.

They were it. And nothing producing today can rival them. They closed out the door of the greatest rock bands ever.
