FYI Adrian Belew on guitar got hired by Zappa for the Sheik Yerbouti tour, rehearsals starting summer 1977 learning about Frank's use of pedals and distortion, sustain and feedback. Then when the tour was up Adrian went to play for David Bowie for his "Heroes" tour and recording Lodger album in 1978. There Adrian met Brian Eno who introduced him to the Talking Heads and they added him to their tour lineup for 1980. Adrian is great. His solo album Lone Rhino is a special thing! From there Adrian and played with Fripp for King Crimson in one of their high periods. He's gone on to be super influential and personally, is such a nice, humble guy, one wonders how it's possible.

It's weird, back in the 70s I saw him in the club that he was discovered by Zappa playing in a band called Sweetheart now decades later he is my step daughter's neighbor and hangs with my son-in-law's dad

i first became aware of adrian when i saw bowie in 78. amazing. loved him here, and in King Crimson as well. anyway....he tells the story of the night he met bowie when bowie made him the offer to join the tour. HILARIOSUS. look it up, one of the funniest rock n roll stories i've heart (right up there with charlie watts getting fully dressed in a suit, shaved, shoes shines in the middle of the night to go down stairs and punch jagger in the jaw :O)

There’s so many great versions but for me the ultimate Talking Heads live experience has to be Stop Making Sense. This song also features on that concert. It’s them at their absolute peak.

YES! More Talking Heads! Their song "Burning Down The House" is one of their most famous songs; when my son was about 4 or 5, he used to ask me to "Play it again, Play it again", because he thought it was so funny. I used to think, he's not going to take my lighter and burn down the house, right? LOL! :)

One of the most driving, powerful concerts I've ever seen. The look of the video is so underground and surreal, representative of the time and the music. Pure genius.

On David Byrne's (Lead Singer/Write, Teez)"UTOPIA" special on HBO last year, he performed this song---IT WAS AN AWESOME CONCERT!! Got to see him do the show live at Monmouth University when he was on a small venue tour fine-tuning the show before the special.

I love so much music but Talking Heads are probably my favourite band. Hard to pin-point exactly why, but some musicians just connect with you at a deeper level than others. For me, the 'Remain In Light' album is the pinnacle of modern music. Sadly I was too young to ever see them live, but I've seen David Byrne on every solo tour of Europe he's done since the early 90s. If you're interested in checking out more Talking Heads, pretty much anything from Stop Making Sense catches them at their live best, while anything off Remain in Light is a perfect intro to their studio sound. Entire books could be written about their approach to music, blending elements of African and South American music into the Western pop / rock / punk vibes of their contemporaries to create a sound that went on to inspire so much of the music that followed. The first couple of albums have the more angular / spiky / stripped back sound of the New York punk scene in 77/78 (I wouldn't categorise them as a punk band - though I have heard others give them that label) but as time progressed - and partly, though not entirely, as a result of Brian Eno's influence - their sound became richer, fuller, warmer, denser.. whatever you want to call it. Just can't go wrong with Talking Heads.

A little surprised you forgot the previous Talking Heads you did. "Born Under Punches", live from Rome, this same tour, is not a forgettable piece of music. It has influenced countless artists. To this day I am riveted, slack jawed at that moment on that stage. It is incomparable!
