D. Dios How did my comment solicit a response about date rape? One, she’s never been known to be a heavy drinker who drinks to the point of passing out. Two, she’s his wife and he doesn’t have to get her drunk to fuck her. You know, happy, consensual, married sex where each persons goal is to please the other ( or maybe you don’t know).

Unlike, perhaps, some other bands where the lead person isn't as much without the band, Fogerty (John) WAS CCR. He wrote the songs, arranged the songs, largely produced the songs, sang the songs, and played the lead guitar in what was essentially a riff based band. And the rest of the band BITCHED AND MOANED, so he said "fine, we'll run this like a one-quarter each partnership", and when each guy was as fully responsible, top to bottom. one fourth of the album was up to snuff while three fourths was dreadful. AND THEY STILL BITCHED AND MOANED that HE should do all the work but the rewards should still be shared equally. SOMETIMES the lead person IS the band, and Fogerty is one instance. I'll concede Clifford had some crisp drumming in CCR's heyday, but it certainly wasn't a focal point that couldn't be done without, and the other two were placeholders that anyone could have filled. So if I was Fogerty, and I was put through what the others put him through, I'd have washed my hands for good too.

+Joseph Scott: I concur...been following this group for a long time and Jerry has never struck me as being egotistical with the exception of ONE interview I saw him do with Tina & Chris (it's probably on KZfaq). David has enormous talent and the personality of a goat. His ego is so big that when he's on the freeway he needs a WIDE LOAD sign and a police escort. But I guess when you are that good you're allowed some ego. Don't know about Tina. I personally believe David tried to keep her in the background. In all of the live performance videos of Talking Heads I've seen, I've never seen one where Tina looked excited or happy. But look at her Tom Tom Club performances and she's smiling and bubbly and shaking that great ass of hers.

Threat_Dynamics Keep in mind that Talking Heads was David Byrne's art. He more or less wrote the music, all the lyrics and sang every song. He brought in all the other musicians when he saw the limitations of his bandmates. He never held Tina back, she never would have been without him. Tom Tom was a cute project, but slight in comparison to Byrne's efforts. Like any great artist, Byrne was finished with THs by 1990, and he moved on to other projects. This is the reason for all the bitterness towards him.
@Chasstful
@Chasstful 9 жыл бұрын
TallTyrionLannister David and Tina's feud happened because he left the band unceremoniously and moved onto other projects. He felt he was finished with THs artistically, they had done every thing they could, and the music was growing stale. She had other ideas. Keep in mind that Byrne pretty much was THs, without him they were shrunken heads.

If you want note for note perfection, listen to the album version. Seriously, and without judgement I say this. Like what *you* like... but to me... This is humans with all their foibles overcoming them in the service of creating art. They fumble a bit at the beginning and then find their way into the groove. Hearing that process makes the whole song lift when they finally lock in. We also get to see Byrne go from an apparently self-conscious, almost ironic performance, to being fully engaged in the song and the moment. It's live music in its most human, most vital form.

David Byrne is amazing. Talking Heads were amazing. While a reunion would be great, its not necessarily needed. David's Everything That Happens Happens Today album with Brian Eno was amazing. And his new album Love this Giant with St. Vincent is great.

Weymouth described Byrne as "a man incapable of returning friendship". She told Glasgow's Sunday Herald: "Cutting off attachments when a thing/person is perceived to have served its purpose or there is a perceived threat to ego is the lifelong pattern of his relations".
