Buddhist monk Ajahn Brahm will describe how to upload ancient wisdom into modern technology. He will reveal the code for the antivirus to stress, show how to delete depression, and give Buddha-tech support to peace of mind. Synergizing Mindfulness with Kindness, we can transform the iPad into the UsPad and the SmartPhone into the SillyPhone. Google, your searching is over, the Google Gooroo has arrived!

Wow. Mind-blowing. Thanks Ajahn Brahm. Wish you paradise Incha'allah ta'ala. and Happiness in this world. It's hard to accept the harsh reality, that one day we may all become crippled, sick, homeless, poor... but accepting that, is really the only thing we can do. Our biggest power comes from battling our greatest fears. This takes enormous courage people. May Allah safeguard us all.

Buddhism is not a religion, " it is a way of life", if everyone were to follow his teachings, the world will be a much better place. 6:16 "If you want to stay ahead of the curve, we add something more: KINDNESS. And if you add kindness to mindfulness you get the latest buzzword in psychology "kindfulness". So don't just be mindfull, be kindfull. Now what that really means is , yes you're aware, but you've got some responsibilities, some duties. What's fun is seeing all the many things that work that contradict one another. This is a great counter-point to all kinds of other presentations with similar outcomes for different reasons using the opposite approach. One person's medicine is another's poison. It would be nice if presenters acknowledged that the opposite of what they say is also true in different situations - but that is rarely done.

first time i have listened to Ajahn, he tells some odd tales, but hey he is referring to the dharma underneath and it sounds like it is working for lots of his students. We need these different styles of teaching. I did like the KIndfulness term, and the reference to happiness having become something of an obsession.

Great idea to invite Ajahn Brahm. However, I felt somewhat disturbed by bit condescending and "supposed-to-be-funny" style of the person doing introduction. And those silly two fingers above AB's head when the introducer was walking past behind him at the beginning of speech.. Of course none of those would ever matter for Ajahn himself, BUT- for me it is very important, whether one cares about maintaining healthy distance in presence of person deserving respect.
@chicagoman58

Agreed. The person doing the introduction did not show Ajahn Brahm proper respect, and was downright disrespectful with the two fingers above Ajahn Brahm's head.

alex campbell Gee, you must have the threshold of experiencing one's buffonness set up pretty low- on the other hand (even) IF Ajahn would be really as you call him - how do you find the person introducing him? And how did AB "invited" anything from him- himself being invited?

Strange. I heard a ton of praise. So much that he may have felt uncomfortable, as he doesn't want to be a celebrity. So, then he humbles him with jokes. Sure, they are familiar, but that is because they are friends. That doesn't equal disrespect. Ajahn Brahm isn't into being put on a pedestal. It is refreshing and it makes one think out of the box. Which is exactly what he is into.

Wait a minute! In this speech ad 2015 he is saying miastakes are second to useless. In his recent talks Adjahn allows making mistakes as a tool for wisening. The latter is much more enlightened, though I wish he had thought over the scope of what he was to say.

Ajahn Brahm confirms why it is so important to not follow any leadership, but to think for yourself. The reason there are fewer women at google is that it is a tech firm. A very successful one. They hire the best people. Affirmative action is reversed sexism. It is very harmful and discriminative. Just hire the best people for the job regardless of gender/ sex and you have true equality and fairness and are the best you can be.

What is the issue with female monks having full status? What are the arguments for and against and thusly the reasons for expelling Ajahn Brahm?
@prechabahnglai103
@prechabahnglai103 3 жыл бұрын
The rule back in Buddha time stated that a female monk has to be ordained by another female monk (and male by male respectively). Unfortunately there was a time when the sect Ajahn Brahm was ordained in, ran out of female monk to ordain more so it was by technicality discontinued. This means that Ajahn Brahm decision to ordain female monks which has led to his “Excommunication” was technically breaking a few rules. Mainly that the female monks he helped to ordained was ordained by a female monks of different sect. Which broke another rule that monks of different sect ought not to hold congregations together. Therefore, Ajahn Brahm was excommunicated. But in Buddhism this just means that they from then on acknowledge that his and their temples are from then on a different sect. In a way saying that he was freed to do what he wishes. This system was part of old agreements between sects of Buddhism to avoid conflicts. In this way both sect can practice their own beliefs and keep their own rules as they see fit.
