Absolutely firm & honest decision from our Benjamin White, everyone has a right to make personal decisions. He also is disinterested on football outside of training & playing games, I didn’t like that he didn’t know who Patrick Viera was, but respect to the guy who wants to have a life outside of work & not make work/ social media his life. It’s rare to find this type of honest, simple, professional person in any walk of life these days. Let's have it right, firstly Maguire has had one poor season and that was the season where 95% of the utd team were poor and secondly Maguire not only plays well for England but in fact excels in the shirt so if you're talking current form then Maguire is in form 🤷 It took stones a long time to get his act together for both city and England but the last couple years he's formed a good partnership with Maguire and as for walker, well he's head and shoulders a better RB than white, probably England's all time greatest RB. My advice to white would be to leave his ego at the door and be there to help the team both on and off the pitch.

Even that aside, just being in the England camp, experiencing how it operates, being around the players, training to southgates tactics etc these all have merit. Southgate is all about the culture and mentality of his squads and I hate to say it but White strikes me as being a bit weak mentally IF the reason he's refused is because he thinks his playtime will be limited

The Athletic reported that it was Southgate’s assistant coach Steve Holland who accused him of not giving his all in training, and used a quote he made in an interview years ago saying he only cares about football when he’s playing against him. This guy plays under Arteta, who demands the best from all his players, if you don’t give the best, you get going. Thinking about this more it's very strange. Edu called Southgate to tell him. So it wasn't like Bent example , where he got a text and a call and he was proud. And if you think about it from an Arsenal POV, White is the only fit right back. An injury for him means Cedric has to play with Tomiyasu not fit. White has played virtually every game. So Edu maybe called Southgate to say look, take Saka and Rice but not White. Sure city will be pulling out some players, KDB has. But Southgate saying there was reticence and he doesn't know why, I don't think is true and does point to an issue. Where he probably wouldn't have picked him and now thrown White under the bus, so he doesn't have to pick him again.
