This is GREAT. Two things: about the death-by-snack, it seems to occur around day 3 or 4, so I would be interested in seeing you feed snacks to improve happiness from the beginning, not just starting at adult. Second thing, I would LOVE to see how long you could keep it alive; after a certain amount of days, the hearts start depleting faster and faster. I'd like to see the robot keep up! Please do a follow-up, for Tamagotchi science!

If tamagochies work like the digimons on the v pet is not that overfeeding kills them by itself, but if you collect too many mistakes or over feeds the digimon won't have any valid evolution conditions so instead it will just die

Hi Laurel, thanks for your input. You're right, there is much research left to do. The machine drove me a bit crazy after a while so I shut it off, so I didn't learn how old it could possibly get. Though I read max lifespans online and I think there exist people who are more care dedicated than even my robot haha. Also, could I somehow program it to get the special secret character?
@JamesTDG
@JamesTDG Ай бұрын
@@JensMakerAdventures In theory, yes, but this requires breaking the rules so that you can find a way to pour through A LOT of code so you can run an emulator and have it virtually create the secret character.

Over feeding snacks also seems make the tamagotchi more likely to get sick at random intervals, and these don’t call out to you when they get sick, they just do. So I believe many of the early deaths come from the tamagotchi going sick and the owner not checking on it in time. …Not a problem this machine would have though…

The thing about the bugged snack feature in these re-releases is that it's only deadly to Tamagotchis that are still growing and can kill them before they reach adulthood. Your robot doesn't realy disprove it since you fed the snacks to an adult Mametchi.

I did a Arduino controlled one with auto care but it did use wires soldered to the buttons (and lights for visual affects), i used it for twitch which worked well in the end but never kept it up long. with twitch i had to pre-program commands instead of just using single button commands as there were chat limits. I also didnt write in to watch the screen for stuff and just did the basics to keep it alive for auto care as my plan was to let the watchers really care for it outside of dying.

Hi, nice to see an in depth question. The code's actually available on GitHub but contains more crimes than most eyes could bear to see I think haha. I started out with using a statemachine, I even informed myself on the Python library for it, but it very quickly turned into using a boatload of IF statements with semi global variables haha... Though it worked very reliably. It's just not very maintainable or reusable. 🤷

This is great! I love it, but i'd love it more if you tried it with a digimon device. the community has a thing called an A-Com. that allows you to interface with the connection pins on top, to do battles and Jogressing, so you could add features like battling via discord if someone sends you their battle code, along with the goal of raising all the digimon on the device by following the specific requirements for each evolution route. along with doing device specific things like the "quest mode" or "colosseum" some devices have. I personally recommend a Digimon X device if you do end up doing this as it has better features then the Version 20th that was released, both are readily available.

Hey, wow that also sounds like a cool project. I must admit that part of my motivation was that I loved Tamagotchi as a child and that there is no interface to connect to (or I didn't want to) making it also a mechanical electrical issue rather than only software.

very cool! discipline usually should occur when the tamagotchi beeps when it doesnt need anything, so discipline per 10 minutes may vary with character. also the snack killing, is only with the ORIGINAL ORIGINAL tamagotchi, the ones released in the 90’s. the newer ones dont exactly die instantly with snacks, but after a while (maybe like 3 days?) they do die. i collect tamas so i know a thing or two :3

@@JensMakerAdventures thank you! im hoping they rerelease connections, with recent teasers they might.. your contraption might be handy to me as well, as i have yet to get mametchi on the p1s… also, snacks can kill tamagotchis in the baby stage on the GAMEBOY game as well! takes a couple minutes to do so but it can die from that, not sure about tamagotchi 2 on the gb though

I have the feeling the mini game timing is random. I mean you can look but then you need a high speed vision system and that is not what this is. I must have tried 5 different timing offsets between button presses for the game but none of them was statistically better than winning 50 percent of games. 🤷

2:12 I'm struggling to understand/believe this. You show one as a block, and one with the removed areas. The one with removed parts absolutely has a smaller volume, so how can it possibly use "just as much plastic"? I'll grant you that it has more surface area, but that's not how much plastic you're using, volume is. Edit: Spelling

I just realised, is this to do with the fact that the print isn't solid? So you're swapping something like honeycombing for solid walls? I don't own a 3d printer, I am speculating. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
@JensMakerAdventures
@JensMakerAdventures 2 ай бұрын
Yes, my explanation was super short in the video, but you are right in your second comment. In 3D printing you can choose how much you fill up your infill, typical percentages are 20% but 5% is also possible. But walls are solid, so a wall can take a lot more material than some volume. Weird, huh? 🤔
