Thank you David! I am impressed how well you prepare for your reviews. You provided all the information accurately and I think you made your own research too. I am proud my pen made it to your collection :)

Urushi arts are not only pricey but also dangerous. I've painted some of my pens with the usrushi laquer, but I'm allergic to the Urushiol. It causes dermatitis(Urushiol is volatile) when I sniff the raw urushi laquer accidently and it is extremely itchy and painful. Also it limits my skills because I must wear plastic or latex gloves. My dermatologist recommended other hobbies, or I could get severe inflammation if I keep exposing myself with Urushiol, so I quit. If you are allegic to the Poison Ivy please reconsider buying raw Urushi related products. I've heard completely cured Urushi laquer is quite safe, though.

Another informative review, David. I love that you pay attention to European makers as well. I own a few pens of Michal / Tamenuri Studio and it’s only pleasure working with him. His knowledge and passion are contaminating and inspiring. Congrats, Michal, on this great and well deserved review with great exposure. We’ll meet soon!

He makes such beautiful pens and they are always jaw dropping when I see them on Instagram. I hope one of these days I can be proud to own one of his pens!

Terrific review, thank you David. Actually $700.00 for a handcrafted urushi pen, although a sizable sum for most of us, is still a very good price. Compared to the cost of most urushi pens out there. But you are absolutely correct, it's an investment in a usable work of art. Beautiful pen, thanks again David.

Your reviews are always interesting and informative. I love the Urushi technique that turns, often, a simple object into a functional piece of art. While I won't be able to afford such a pen I'm glad you let me know about Tamenuri Studio so that I can take a look at the pens being created.

Very beautiful pen. Out of all the urushi pens I've seen, that has to be my favorite.

The kon-peki is probably the best selling Pilot ink because it works with just about any pen, but it is true that it fits this one quite nicely. It's a lovely pen. No surprise he sells his pens so quickly. I'm glad to see a successful independent start-up in the fountain pen world, which tends to have an unhealthy obsession with traditional brands with a long heritage that often sell the same products for decades, focusing on mass-production, and hardly introduce any originality or uniqueness.

This might well be the most beautiful blue pen I've ever seen.

Precisely my thought. The moment David turned the pen to show it under different angles...

Very nice. I can’t afford one but it does make me want to buy a Ranga-sounds like they were generous

Thanks David, really interesting pen. Out of curiosity, are ebonite pens with urushi treatment eyedroppable or would you think eye dropping them may damage the pen? Cheers
@FigbootonPens2 жыл бұрын
As long as the barrel is one solid piece, typically you can eyedropper without issues.
@TamenuriStudio2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can eyedropper such pens provided the threads of section and nib have good seal. Most of my pens are eyedroppers too.

And now Michal's pens will be sold even before they are announced on the instagram, due to such review - making them even less available! :)
