my theory is that they tried out making a savory poptart flavor, realized it was a terrible idea, accidentally made way too much of the filling, and decided the only way out was to trick people into buying it like this

Based on the hints, a lot of people have been saying everything bagel. There’s even dried onion and garlic powder in the ingredients. These really annoy me, because it’s so wasteful in the bigger picture. I hate food waste, and I always repurpose everything so it’s doesn’t have to be wasted if it’s in said position. A lot of people got the bigger box. They’ll take a bite and toss the whole box. Mystery flavors are fun, but this one is just so dumb.

I had the misfortune of tasting one of these today after my grandson completely rejected it! I didn't want to waste it, what a mistake! I thought there was something wrong with them? Apparently I'm not the only one that thinks they're disgusting!? But, based on the clues, I want to say the mystery flavor is Pringles sour cream and onion?

The hint I got was “2 halves make a whole, but still has a hole” which suggests to me that it’s a bagel. My guess is that it’s an “everything” bagel with cream cheese, which I like a lot for breakfast. But that kind of savory flavor with a hint of garlic/onion in a pop tart is just gross.

Just made them, cooked em, thought something got in my toaster, like a spice bottle fell in, the onion powder. Then I smelled the poptart - it was them. I tasted it, i have no idea... its like, what, garlic onion mashed potatoes with sugar in it?

A cream cheese frosting version might be nice with a carrot colored frosting on top for Easter . I do sympathies with all those brands always trying to come up with something new and exciting but this one sounds like a no go .

But they are SWEET at the same time...i think it was a social experiment by their marketing division to see how trusting we would be of them, lol. I will be Sticking to the fruit flavors, and maybe even the Store Brand pastries now, haha. Onion, Garlic and corn syrup would have turned me off before ever buying them, had i done my usual pre buy reading of the ingredients, lol

Oh no lol. Good thing you found the 8 CT because they also do come in a 16 ct box. I think you should try them toasted. I have read that it improves the flavor a lot. Not that you should have to. I like the idea of a shelf stable savoury toaster strudel but this sounds gross. By the way, I don't know if you heard, but the flavor for the Great Value mystery toaster pastry was Fruit Punch, so you were technically right with your guess

I just tried it. The smell alone was enough to make me want to puke. It smelled like stale Doritos mixed with feet. One bite and I threw those in the trash. Even my dog wouldn't eat it. 🤮🤮🤮

I think of the people at Kellogg’s who are in marketing right now; how they must be laughing their butts off for passing something as disgusting as Onion and Garlic POPTARTS off as some cool new mystery flavor! I totally bombed by purchasing these from the Sales bin, expected them to be a fruit flavor, and only after Tasting them did i then read the ingredients, like a dummy. I normally read the labels on nearly everything, but i trusted Kelloggs to have good stuff. Never falling for that crap again, lol

Hint: the only flavors listed are ONION and /garlic, now, add corn syrup and figure out what it is? Toe jam with sugar on top, maybe...save your money. I think they were tesing the consumers to see who would actually try them. I much prefer the fruit flavors. Never buy a mystery flavor without checking out the ingredients for a clue; i bought them on a whim from a sales bin. I wasted a buck a box, open two of them. I am NOT happy with my mistake, haha. I don’t think i would even pass them off on any little kids.

Unfortunately, I had bought these, as I always love a mystery and thought they would do something like orange or apple. Something they had never done before. But, that first bite and I am like WTH? I thought possible cream cheese or marshmallow, but then I went online to see if someone figured it out and people had pointed out on the label it says garlic and onion powders and I realized that was the funky taste I was getting. That is what you smelled. Garlic. I tasted them again just to be sure and yes, it is the garlic that makes them horrible. I have since tossed them all in the garbage. Unfortunately, I had bought the bigger box. Thanks for your review!

@@joshuatexas this is like eating a pizza from the fridge and then saying it doesn’t taste right. If you want to eat pop tarts cold, then you should toast them and allow them to cool. It adds so much to the flavour.

I've been anxiously awaiting this one lol. After seeing your reaction, I think Poptarts made a mistake with this. They've lost our "trust" so to say, so we'll be less likely to ever buy other mystery flavors in the future. Mystery flavors should at least be something inoffensive so that you can at least eat them even if they aren't your favorite. These are like the booger beans in Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans.

These were so nasty that I immediately spit it out when I started chewing. They were so nasty I couldn’t even hold it in long enough to decipher what the taste was at least😆 I was hoping it would be a mistery as in whether it’d be strawberry, s’mores, brown sugar and cinnamon, etc. like any of the sweet flavors we all like

It’s weird hearing Kevin say the grandkids will eat them, you guys don’t look old enough to be grandparents and to support that argument you’re both around the same age as me and my wife and we’re definitely not old 🤪🤣. Like the name of the product, the play on words instead of mystery. I wish you guys would come prepared with your flavours, I mean geez😂🤣. I am confused I smell marshmallow, tastes like it too, that or cream cheese. I don't really get pizza or anything savory well I guess cream cheese is savory, like a sweetened cream cheese. Imagine a Pop tart with NO flavor with only the base ingredients and you've got it. It's barely even worth eating. I just call them "blank" Pop tarts and I urge everyone NOT to buy them. I have to admit I don't smell pizza, and I don't taste anything that would lend me to think they even have a flavor.

My reaction when I got the notification: Oh no. Okay lets watch. Yup, it’s a bad flavor. It seems like you guys didn’t know it was going to be bad. I know I do want to try them as I can kinda see myself liking it but hopefully I can find the 8 box one and not the 16. Clues on the website immediately point to Everything Bagel and let’s just say I had a blueberry bagel with cream cheese and everything bagel seasoning 😂 and I liked it. I will have my friends taste them too.

I’ve only ever loved frosted pop tarts cold or toasted, and plain which is my favorite btw in strawberry, blueberry, and grape toasted in the toaster with a bit of butter. They were my favorite breakfast in middle and high school! So nommy! They don’t have grape anymore. 😭 Thank you for the review and not wasting my money and tastebuds! 🥰

This seems like such a waste. A big family size box of savory (???) Poptarts that are basically a gag. A waste of food in my opinion. No kid is ever gonna eat this. Thanks for the review Tami.
