A model showcase video of my 1/16th scale Tamiya RC M26 (T26E3) Pershing. In this video I describe the work that was made to the model, and I take the model for a test drive.

I built models 40 years ago and I think I'll get into it again. You did a magnificent job on this tank. Tamiya were my favorite brand of kits because the detail was very good.

Cheers Oddball. When the time and opportunity come together, I will try to build and paint mine as a beaten-up, paint chipped Korean war Pershing. Keep up the excellent work and videos.

I have built two Tamiya M26 T26E3’s. The first one was built to WWII specs, and the second to Korean War. I sold on the first M26 but have put a lot of time into the second, with a number of extras over the standard kit.

For my needs the stock tamiya sound system works for me. On my builds my interest is with more about the exterior detailing than sound effects.

Very nice. I also have the same kit NIB in storage. How did you achieve the scratched paint/exposed metal effect on the seams? Did you use pencil?

Not to me, to me RC is secondary. For my needs I would rather have a RC stock model, with a detailed exterior. I have seen many 1/16 tanks with lots of money in AM rc equipment, but have glaring detail mistakes that hurt the look of the model.

Depends what you are looking for. Schumo makes some good parts in cast metal but are becoming harder to find these days as they have been out of production for about 10 years. Many of their parts can be found on a google search. recently Shapeways also has some very nice 3d printed parts that I would use if I were building this tank again. Also since I built this tank I have released a large line of 1/16th scale parts for various tank the M26 included. My parts can be found here, eastcoastarmory.com/sherman_16.htm

Damn that paint and detailing is on point! I have been working on a m1a2 HL abrams with my wife, i've removed the seamlines and i'm trying to go for the one with the m1aw sepv3 logo on the sides of the lower hull and had my wife hand paint the font. Twas really hard, how were you able to handpaint the MG serial numbers and the other decals so precisely?
@oddball759mm
@oddball759mm 3 жыл бұрын
the Markings on this one are the kit supplied water slide decals. There is no way I would be able to paint those mg can markings or the TO&E numbers free hand or even with a hand made stencil

Sooo beautiful. What colors did you use to paint it ? it seems brighter and flat than tamiya spray paint ?
@oddball759mm
@oddball759mm 7 жыл бұрын
I never use the tamiya spray paints. For the look you see on my builds I use my own mix for the paint, which is not something you can find in a store.

I sell the recharge cables, They just plug into the stock system. They are found on the ECA catalog, eastcoastarmory.com/sherman_16.htm . Let me know if you need any assistance, thanks

No, I use drybrushing. A Pencil would rub off on your hands and would cause a mess after awhile. The paint is permanent and holds off to wear better.

How does the henglong compare to the tamiya pershing? I'm able to get a henglong with no electronics but will all metal suspension parts tracks and a metal barrel for about 200$ (new) and will put in a TK50 clark...but would love to build a tamiya..... is the Tamiya that much better?

In my HL M26 videos I go over this in more detail, in a nutshell the HL is a water down Tamiya since they copied the tamiya model to make thiers but had to make some changes to it for ease of production and to lower the price point. In the end the detailing on the tamiya is better, but is more expensive. some of the changes that HL made was that they deleted the working bow hatches, they redesigned the shock absorber where there is a large exposed coil spring, they also changed the suspension type. The tamiya is more accurate, while HL to save on costs change out the inner spring system and simply placed their spring shock absorber on each suspension swing arm. Because of this the HL is very wrong in this respect. The barrel for the longest time on both the Tiger I and the M26 was too short, this was done so it can fit the box, The rear storage bin is the wrong shape because it makes it easier to mold, and just the over all moldings are softer in detail compared to the original tamiya tooling. Also letting you know the "metal Upgraded" HL track is garbage and breaks after not a lot of milage and is incorrect with the shape / details. The ones I have seen have no inner track pad molded in and it's a large cavity. On my builds the track I use is the metal one from mato, it is the best one on the market I found in terms of quality, materials used, and overall execution. they will time with the HL sprocket and I also believe the tamiya M26 model. I hope this helps

@@mr.rajikon3911 sadly no, it's just not in the budget. I do however have a 1/6th scale M26 in my collection. This one was scratch built many years ago and I made a video on the completed model, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kNxghsmm3pmUl58.html

The problem with the HL M41 is that to save on tooling HL recycled many M26 parts. Because of this the model is not very dimensionally accurate. It makes for a fun RC tank, but not a finely detailed model.
