Tamiya's 1/24 scale Ford GT is a fantastic model kit on it's own. I'm adding photoetch parts and LEDs to make it even better!

I enjoyed your video 📹 i know it's a little older but I'm just now seeing it as a new subscriber. 😊 I love everything you did but I thing we in the hobby should share tips some times if you don't already do I noticed on your dash when you did the water slides for the gauges and radio you left it after that something I've been doing is taking a little UV resin and putting a small coat over them and then shine your UV light it will give you the impression that there's glass over them. Again it's a beautiful build 😊 thanks for the video and can't wait to see some of your others sorry went back and seen you had put something over the gauges they look great my apologies lol

Thanks, I used clear gloss and I completely agree on sharing tips. I think UV resin is a great idea. I have several colors, but no clear. I used some to seal the headlights... can't remember what color, I think it was black, well grey really.

came across this wonderful build of yours whilst researching the kit for my own build - as a fellow modeller who likes to put lights in everything, I really appreciate the work you did on it. Where did you install the battery and switch? I'd like to have seen how you did that

Thanks! This was a fun project. I ended up deciding it would be better to actually have the model as part of a diorama so the wire comes out by the left rear wheel and will run under the diorama to USB power. I do believe with a small amount of modification a triple A battery pack would fit under the engine. I didn't want to have to cut the bottom open and then handle it all the time to swap batteries. Plus, with USB, you never have to turn it off. It is a great kit and a beautiful car. I just picked up the GT40 from Fujimi to be it's diorama partner. Stay tuned... There will be PE and LEDs on that build as well... and I think it'll be race worn to contrast the clean GT. What colors are you going with?

@@brithebuilder thanks for the info! I'm looking at doing mine in a dark graphite grey with the black outer stripes sandwiching a red central strip and Black or dark grey rims.

Sounds like a very cool color scheme. I do suggest looking into a set of PE at least for the vents and brake calipers.

@@brithebuilder definitely - I have those items from Hobby Design ready to go. Just waiting on the paint to arrive

Fantastic! I didn't use every piece, some of it would have definitely been more trouble that it was worth, but the overall quality change is definitely worth it.

What kind of glue are you using?
@brithebuilder7 ай бұрын
Anything that's plastic to plastic, is Tamiya Extra Thin, the black Super Glue is Starbond - Medium Thick. It's got rubber in it to keep the CA more flexible.
