my OFFICIAL second TAMIYA lexan paint job... I AM HOOKED ON THESE.... not an easy body kit.. feel free to ask me anything

Great job! With the metallic paints you will need to spray on the color to your liking and then let dry. Once dry back it with black PS spray which will bring out the color more and make it opaque. remove window masks and spray the PS tint. Remove the outer film once all spraying has been completed. Finally, add stickers and then mask and spray on flat clear over body. The full scale is all matte finish.

Clean it with unscented dawn soap and you won’t have that problem with the metallic and you need two super light coats with the metallics I found

Yes those Tamiya bodies will drive you nuts. I did a multi color, color changing NSX Raybrig 2004 with all decals to the box art, spent 2 days on just the body.......after a few crashes the body looked well used. Now I try to limit my body time to 2-4 hours and 1-2 colors, they all get beat up anyways.

Id recommend you buy a light kit for the headlights and rear lights, I built my TT02 Ford GT using aftermarket headlight and taillight inserts with cutouts for a simple LED light, you can move/put stickers on the inserts for the front that dont cover the LED’s and it gives it a better look. (Thats my recommendation if you want to make a car that has that level of detail)

I bought one of these shells last week but having only ever bought pre-painted shells before I must confess to feeling a little daunted by the task

Well despite watching several of these I completely forgot the "take your time" rule. I painted mine with PS-17 Metallic Green which in places looks amazing but there are a few errors but for a first attempt i'm fairly happy with it (my masking was rubbish and when I painted the black parts some of the paint managed to leech though onto the bodyshell so I then had to order a bottle of Tamiya polycarbonate Body Cleaner Tamiya 87118 from France as it doesn't seem to be available to buy here in the UK. It's amazing stuff though). The stickers were a huge ballache however

A trick with the decals is to use a bowl of water with a drop of detergent. This allows the decal to slide around and then use a hair dryer with a cotton bud to get it to stick and mould.

I just bought two of these kits. Definitely not going to do the box art, but ill see what I come up with.

Hi Chris, have you made changes to the rear offset? I am looking at swapping my 38mm rear drives for 42mm if I can get them. The rear stance isn’t right. Too narrow. I used 1.5mm spaces on each rear. No enough at all. Needs I would say 3.5mm+ on each rear wheel. 1.5mm looks tidy on the front.

I put different wheels and sold the originals .. they did look weird
