Tamiya Hotshot Re-re Unboxing and Chat! The First Tamiya 4WD RC Car!

5 ай бұрынHello and welcome to this detailed unboxing of the iconic Tamiya Hotshot. This is the re-released version which has a few modern upgrades included in the kit compared to the original version. Joining me on the camera is my great friend Rob @robbrennanrc to help with the unboxing and chat.
About the Tamiya Hotshot
The Hotshot, released in 1985, is a milestone as the first Tamiya 4 Wheel Drive chassis and the forefather of many similar chassis to come. The front and rear suspension both have single shocks and double wishbone system. The rear damper connects to the wishbones through a relatively complex system. The Hotshot chassis evolved during production, and was re-released in 2007 where the chassis has received a lot of smaller changes compared to the vintage ones.

You could do the lawn with that bumper! 😁 Really cool how they included a molded driver. I have the Tamiya rally cockpit on my list for the Impreza. Really adds to the realism, the drivers. Nice one Mark!

Barbra's beavers omni directional Mic stand! Classic! I guess the hallucinations are from the lovely tire aroma. The too will pass lol. However I am unsure, yet highly curious about the damper system on this kit. I think the engineers were too busy sniffing tyres and thinking about big box barbie beavers and forgot to add two shocks lol! Rock on and hope ye are all terrific over there!

I think that may become a feature from now on! 😅 Love the comment mate, really made me smile! 🤗 Yes I too am looking forward to how this one goes together and how the crazy suspension works. Nice stuff Mark. I always wanted this 4WD kit as a kid but ended up with a Hornet due to budget. Not disappointed as I flogged it and still have it after 40 years

Hi Ian, hope you are doing OK! Oh yes, this was an expensive kit back in the day, but a Hornet is and was a fantastic (and now iconic) buggy too. Amazing you have a 40 year old Tamiya! Nice one! 😎👌👍

Quality!... I knew you would like the hot shot cos it gives you a wibbly wobbly and a stiffie! 👌 Green is a great colour for a hot shot and I think I remember a tamiya promotional video had a green one back in the day. Good to see Barberas beaver getting some use😂 Have a great weekend lads 👍

Hiya Mark. You know I watched this when it appeared on Friday but it was on my telly rather than the PC and I forgot to go back and add a comment 🤦♂️ Anyway top stuff and nice beaver action 🦫. This is a kit that came out when I was just getting out of the hobby in my teens and I think at the time I wasn't keen on the very modern design as I liked the scale looking RC's like the Wild One. Anyway now I've been back in the hobby for a good long while I do really like this as a classic Tamiya and have grown to love the looks of it. You have to admire the whacky shock set-up that probably only Tamiya would do. Nice vid mate and cheers for the wibbly wobbly mention 😂 Best wishes 😁👍👍

Hi there Pete and many thanks for popping back, much appreciated as I always look forward to your comments. Haha yeah we had to get the beaver in the act again! I totally missed this one back in the day, not on the radar at all! But over the past few years, like you, it's grown on me and I'm so happy to have this in my collection now. Absolutely, that crazy suspension setup could only come from Tamiya, but that why we love 'em! Epic tire sniff, you looked dizzy 😅 Anyway, yeah, great car to build, would look good in metallic green. One "big" difference with original is the upper chassis who has the access latch where the one from 1985 was closed (not practical as you can imagine). Now, waiting for the build video 😊 Have a nice week-end 🤝

Hey Mark, I remember the original release of the HotShot, if my memory serves me correctly, it shortly released after the BigWig, it kind of took the design philosophy from the Boomerang and Fox and went a bit further with the 4WD system. A different build for sure, I know a man of your talents and skill, will certainly enjoy the building experience of this iconic Tamiya. I’m going to be interested in how the suspension system works, with the uni-shock setup 😊😊 awesome unboxing from the dynamic duo 😊best wishes my friend, to you and the family 😊😊

The temptation not taking the bits out of the box 🙂 Yes the Tamiya 1060 love it but these were the era of interesting Tamiya buggies. When you said green but then Metallic much better, Tamiya needs to ditch bushings. I have to say so different to my Boomerang and hard oil. Good a build soon.

Very nice, Mark! I think it will look great in green, and I went and subscribed to Paul's channel also, what are you telling him to paint it? It's funny, I remember the old Hotshot from back then but never had one. I think some other boy had one and I was envious, but not enough to get one myself, or I just didn't have the money, ha ha... It'll be interesting to see this come together, I trust you will do a build guide? Another thing you could do is a Tamiya tech talk kind of video, discuss the different technologies used, designs, 4wd driveline, suspension, plastic qualities and all that goodstuff... Loads of great geeky Tamiya KZfaq content for us to watch! Anyway, have a great weekend there my good mate!

I told him to paint it Pearl White, as that was my original choice for my Hotshot. He did it already and it looks awesome! I always wanted one of these but never did get one and now I have it thanks to Peter Smith. How lucky am I? Yep, a build guide of some sort is coming. love that idea for videos too, mate. A great and very thorough unboxing there lads..... and an even better tyre sniff Mark! 😂 This is an awesome kit, and will look great in PS 17.....but,you must add the metallic gold wheels mate! A very quirky design, especially with the two shocks. I think the coat hanger is the 'roll over' aeriel..... a few models had this back in the day, I'm not convinced how effective they were.... they often made the crash worse, but hey, you know what my drivings like! 😂 Can't believe you stuffed your MIC right into Barbara's beaver..... hope you lubed it up with some of that Tamiya Molly grease first! Looking forward to the build, and some hotshot V hotshot racing with that Rob chappy! 👍 👍 👍

Thanks James, you know how important it is to give every box you come across a good inspection! 😅 I think I went overboard with the tyre sniff though mate! 🤣 Good call on the wheels, but they may have to wait for funds! Never thought about that aerial being a roll over device, and don't worry, my driving is the same as yours! I thought it was about time Barbera's Beaver was put to good use and I can report that the insertion didn't require extra lube, it was plenty greasy already!!! 🤣 Take care matey! 😎👌👍

Hahaha tyre sniffers 😊 I think everyone's guilty of that Mark! Yes they are skimping on many things here in Oz. As inflation booms, deflation in the size of goods is the new normal here for many things, so esc's should be no different I guess. We all deserve an Esc in our kits 🤗 Its always good to see what mischief you, Rob and the critters are getting up to over there in the ever wonderous UK. We cant wait to see this build finished Mark! We hope Louise will make another guest appearance again soon. 🤗😊

The hotshot is the first buggy i bought when i got back into this hobby a few years ago and its a great looking buggy and drives well.Mine has a sport tuned motor and it suits these buggies.
