LOL thanks! The car was mainly me, the beard just showed up! I do think the black edition MB is a great looking version of it and goes so well with the blingy gold wheels. @Addam's Playground you know who does a good all black body, is pro-line. Their tough-color bodies are super nice and a bit thicker than regular lexan bodies. Not the same as the Tamiya hardbodies...still really nice though.

@@canuckchuck8836 I have seen them advertised but never in person. My local hobby shop is kind of lame and is very tiny so they can only stock so much. So even having a LHS does me little good often and I still end up ordering the stuff.

It has some swirl/streaking in the plastic and those seams on the fenders were very noticable. I did go over it with some 600 grit and should have done a wet sand and went out and got another can of black paint to give it a final smooth coat but I was too excited to get it built! I am sure it will get a scuff and scratch or two the first time I run it so a perfect paint job would get ruined anyway. If it were truly just going to be a shelf queen I would have gone and got more paint and done 100%. Thanks for stopping by and checking it out!!!

Oh yeah, I remember the old school mechanical speed controllers. I have a couple with them installed still! I also remember burning myself on the hot resistor after running a few batteries though it. I can also vividly remember the smell of mud puddle water steaming off of it when running them around. The Monster Beetle is a cool kit and it is a fun one to build and run! I love the look of this black edition one too!

I hear that!! I have a few kits on backorder and want to get more.to do now but I have a few I got for custom builds but don't want to do all the custom stuff now but also have been spending way too much money on RC lately. I wish I made money from videos instead of spending so much on them... Plus on top of that there are cool new ones all the time coming out I want. I am super happy and blessed to be complaining about having too much or trying to figure out what to buy next but it is hard when you want to get and share all the things with everyone!!! I. Sure you are in the same boat where it has become both "I really want that" and "that would be a cool car/truck to make a video on, I think folks would like that".

@@AddamsPlayground so true and trust me unless you are one of the huge channels you don't make much it helps but doesn't cover nearly what we spend on rc lol you will see soon almost to 1000 i have had some decent months but most of the months I make enough to buy parts but the best thing is you can take your rcs off on taxs once your a Google contractor thats the best

I was able to place it on the mounting slot on the ESC. I can reach it with the body on and turn it on and off with the body on. You could stick it down with double sided tape a little lower on the chassis but it is not as secure. That is the biggest downside to having the aftermarket ESCs included is they don't have the big switch the Tamiya designed the kits to use. Could be worse and they just stopped supplying them all together and we'd all have to buy one with a switch that doesn't work well!!! Thanks for stopping by and checking in!!!

I do like the grey chassis over the red one, it is just too much red for me on the original. With the grey chassis the red body looks better, the black ones is still my favorite though but that is what makes it fun, there is always something a bit different you can do to them to make them your own and the way you prefer! The rear end can be a bit finicky with too much power and grip, it can spread the case and skip teeth on the gears, I know the MIP diffs are super solid for these and make them bulletproof! Have fun with it!!

This is one I bought completely because of the looks so I don't want to tear it up and have to repaint and find new decals. So it will run and get a run video. I think the dust cover serves a bit more purpose back in the day of the mechanical speed controls. Keeping the mud and rocks out of it was more of a thing with those. I agree the bright yellow shocks are not the greatest look. Some black ones would look good on it! Thanks as always for checking in!

Tamiya recommends it but I rarely do. Usually I only use the primer if I have sanded out mold lines on the body and I use it mainly to check if there are any deep scratches left from sanding. It also helps fill and smooth the very fine scratches. If you wash and dry the body well the paint sticks just fine.

Thanks! The GH2 was a big improvement over the original and is a fun buggy. It is what I based my Mad Max themed buggy build on. Not too many were 4wd there were some on the WR01 chassis but they are hard to find (Wild Dagger, Twin Detonator, Double Blaze, Dual Hunter). Most were 2wd unfortunately. One I have high up on my "kits-to-get" list is the GF06 trucks, I want the King Yellow (school bus) and then the KongHead is my second choice. They are 6wd and despite their bulky looks they run really well!! I am waiting for the bus to show back up in stock but I may end up just getting the konghead instead. They have a 4wd Monster Beetle on the GF01T chassis but it is more of one of the comical series kits. There is the CC02 trail trucks but those are more realistic looking than old school cool. There is the CR01 chassis trucks but they are rather expensive and more of a crawler/trail truck as well.

Hi and welcome into the madness... I mean joy of RC! LOL! There really isn't a wrong way to do it, the servos and ESCs today are all pretty good but here is what I recommend for starting out. For a servo I generally use super cheap 4 for $20 metal gear servos I can get off of Amazon, having said that I have a lot of cars that sit around and don't take a lot of abuse. The 25kg and 35kg servos you can din on Amazon for around $25-30 are good choices as they are more than powerful for this and should hold up to a good amount of abuse, the servo saver is liable to break before the servo goes out. For an ESC you cannot go wrong with the HobbyWing 1060, it will allow for both lipo and Nimh batteries and will run down to a 15t (sometimes lower) motor so more than enough for this truck for sure. For batteries I typically run Nimh because many of the Tamiya cars are not designed to fit the modern square pack design of the lipo packs. I use the ZEE batteries, again from Amazon. You can find pairs of them at a very reasonable price (I just looked and 2 5000mah batteries for $44) and they have a great selection of both Nimh and lipo. Start out with the stock motor and then you can upgrade later down the road to a faster motor. The Holmes Hobbies Retro Sport motors are a great budget buy and run really well, the 19 turn would be the fastest I would want to put in this truck, the 21 turn would be a good bit peppier than stock as well and not quite as fast as the 19. On almost all my Tamiya kits I just run NIMH packs. they fit properly and have good run times. I generally do not run them hard so the extra punch of Lipo batteries is not needed. Here is my amazon link to the ones I normally run. amzn.to/49lf9TB

You don't have to sand it down, The primer is designed to bond to the plastic. I sanded the mold lines on the body to make it as smooth as possible. I was just being extra picky and wanted it as nice as possible.

@@SRG-HITMAN-11 I generally use the Tamiya fine surface primer #87064. It bonds well and goes down very smooth.

@@SRG-HITMAN-11 there are a lot of regular primers that will work. Just make sure it is designed for plastics. They just spray on a little thicker so do light coats and you'll be fine!

It is not pre-painted but it is molded in black plastics so you do not have to paint it. I painted it with the recommended black paint as it gives it much more shine. I also sanded out all the mold lines (which are not that noticeable but since I was painting I might as well) to give it a very smooth finish. I have skipped painting the black edition bodies prior and they look fine, they are not as shiny.

It is the Tamiya TS-14 Black. It is a gloss black and really looks great!
