TAMIYA THUNDER SHOT 4WD 2022 4K

Being a racer from the mid 1980's I still remember sharing the track with one of these cars and back then I was not keen on it at all. However, over time it's really grown on me. The body style, box art and the black wheels really appeal to me.
On the day of shooting I met up with my good friend Paul at the famous Castle Hill race track for some fun laps. Handing Paul the radio I chased after the car with my Hero10 mounted on an extension pole to try capture some action footage.
Shot at 120 fps in 4K there was a bit of an over cast which to my opinion helped out.

I can agree to that. Can not stand the aesthetic with the wing. I use to race against a T.S back in the 80's but never liked it back then. However over the years I have developed a fondness for this car.

@@Bormac073 i agree, i just bought myself one on eBay with the 20% off eBay plus discount code 🤘 I didn't buy any of the other versions, except the Terra scorcher, i have been waiting for this one, best looking imo.

Nice to see the Thunder Shot re-released, as it is quite a unique looking buggy. 👍 I prefer it without the optional rear wing, but it's great Tamiya include it in the box. Tempted by this kit myself, but since I already have a Terra Scorcher and Thunder Dragon, it's kinda hard to justify buying another buggy with essentially the same chassis! 😁

You're not wrong. For less than $250 AUD people can now again enjoy this car. In my opinion the best looking car of this chassis design.

Ha Ha, you aren't wrong Roland. It was the antenna supplied in the kit. My idea of fun was to set the car up as it would have been back in the 80's. Such a blast from the past with all the funny characteristics . Thank you

The 2022 Tamiya THUNDER SHOT is once again re-released and as awesome as it was backnin the 80s..with a couple minor tweaks. It is a fun build & a blast to drive, especially if you can run with some other guys & there vintage brushed buggies. If I have one legitimate complaint..and I said IF..It is the shock springs. They are just to stiff and the rebound is comical. Tweak the shocks with some softer springs and this classic will be your new favorite vintage 4WD buggy ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Castle Hil Track in Sydney - great track, hosted Australian titles a few years back.

You always do nice clean work and drive on a real circuit. I know you Australian guys just love the white lettered tires haha. Did you use a paint pen for that?

Awesome vid mate 👏 that looks like quite a different driving experience than the optima mid 😅 hard to believe that they are almost the same age. Is it possible to tune the setup with the stock shocks?

Funny you mention this Marcus, as I had my good friend Paul drive both this car and my Mid and he said the difference was mind blowing.

As for the shocks, the kit allows for different pistons, I went with 2 hole and 35wt front and rear. It's still too under dampened.

What else do you need to buy for the kit apart from an ESC? I was hoping to find white wheels exactly the same as the Thundershot Quick Drive to fit this. Any code or size? Thanks

@@erikleypoldt8275 the kit is just that. A kit. You'll need to talk to your local hobby shop. Motor, esc, receiver, servo, battery, radio. You'll need these electrics as none are in included in the kit.
