The Tampa Bay Lightning have traded Mikhail Sergachev to the Utah HC, in exchange for Conor Geekie, JJ Moser, and draft picks.

Not knowing the whys and wayfarers, I won't comment on this trade simply because Tampa's management has been outstanding in picking winners getting to the Cup Finals and the Stanley Cup. They have access to information I don't have and the 'future considerations' they may have set up with this deal for the future. Was I shocked......damn right, that's a heck of a defenseman they just traded to the U ta...ta's Nuclear fallout team. When the dust settles in a few years we'll then see who won the trade.

Can someone explain to me why a state that has produced only 5 NHL players gets an NHL franchise and the city of Quebec, which produced 54 players, is continually snubbed. The population of Salt Lake City is around 200,000. The population of Quebec City is 500,000. Make this make sense. It isn't based on the cities' contribution to the sport, or the potential fan base.

Great trade!! Both teams get good value imo. Utah gets a stud 26 yr old 2 way D man to anchor their Defence corps...this is cap $$$ well-invested!! Tampa gets 4 things they dearly need in exchange. So their value is in the many more than the much...a good young d man in Moser to replace the loss there...a big 20 yr old centre taken at #11 2 drafts ago to add strength up the middle...both adds make Tampa younger and renew the team, which they need to do, draft capital with 2 picks which they also dearly need and valued cap space...as Legorock suggested probably to resign their captain...a huge trade for both teams and mutually beneficial(!), which is the best result desired. I wish my team(the Leafs) had been in on something this...great work by both GMs, with a little extra going to Julien BriseBois for finding a way to renew his team...but Bill Armstrong too for acquiring a former 9th overall who is in the prime of his career at 26 that can help lead his team both defensively and offensively

Solid trade by Tampa dump a huge contract to make cap room for Stamkos, significant downgrade on the blue line but a blue chip prospect in Geekie and picks.
