28-75 is my go to on a73. Glad I got it for 799. Would have preferred a 75-210 for this next one. Need that range badly. But this 17-28 can be great for apsc and full frame. Will def pick it up. 👍
@WhiteMic
@WhiteMic 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I got mine for the $799 as well and it's also my go to. I just thought about it being good for crop cameras for sure. I know they say full frame lenses are less sharp on crop cameras but in the real world usage I've never seen any evidence, I guess if you're shooting charts. Will definitely be a powerhouse. I'm not sure they would do a 210mm instead of a 200mm but I wouldn't complain about that extra reach.

If this 17-28 is as good as the 28-75, it’s a no brainer complimentary lens. My 28-75 has been serving me very well and this 17mm width will allow for more coverage for real estate videos. I don’t mind missing the 28-35 range on this lens since it’s there on the 28-75. And yeah, a 75-200 or 75-210 would be awesome... I would even take 75-150 if that means it will be small and even fit on a gimbal.
@WhiteMic
@WhiteMic 5 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. I will enjoy the super wide lens and hopefully they bring out the zoom. I expect it to be just as good as the 28-75!

Got the 28-75mm and now looking forward to the 17-28mm. I think I'm gonna wait a little after its release and may be get the second model so I can skip to issues with the first model, just like the focusing issue with the 28-75mm in the first model.
@WhiteMic
@WhiteMic 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I recall some issues with the initial release which were quickly corrected with firmware. Let's hope Tamron has done better testing this time around! That's a good suggestion though, but I'm not so sure my desire for new gear would allow me to wait lol.
@nikanj
@nikanj 5 жыл бұрын
I'm split on this lens. When the Tamron 28-75mm came out I immediately sold my Sony Zeiss 24-70mm and got it because an extra stop of light and more shallow DOF is great to have in a standard zoom range. For an ultrawide zoom I primarily use it for landscapes where f2.8 doesn't really matter so my Sony Zeiss 16-35mm is fine. It'd be better for astrophotography but for that you're even better off with fast primes anyway.
@WhiteMic
@WhiteMic 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah the one good thing about that Zeiss lens is the OSS, I know even that 24-70 Zeiss has issues in early models with being soft at the edges or at 24mm I don't recall which one. I have no regrets with my 28-75, I really use it for everything, even yesterday for an all day wedding video shoot. I loved the 16-35 f4 and it's OSS but I think i'd sacrifice that for a 2.8, I just can't see paying that much for the 16-35 as good as it is.

I think it really depends on what you want to shoot. The Tamron 28-75 is definitely more versatile. Primes can work but you have to move your feet more and some focal lengths don't look flattering on faces.
@robbie288
@robbie288 5 жыл бұрын
There's a lot of people who are going to want this lens as soon as it comes out. Especially if it's the same vs the 16-35 GM as the 28-75 is against the 24-70 GM. Tamron will know this and may well price it according to that demand, I really hope your estimate is right but I wouldn't be surprised if they introduced it at 1100 then dropped it to 999 after a while. It'll still be a ton cheaper than the Sony 16-35 G Master
@WhiteMic
@WhiteMic 5 жыл бұрын
I agree, the cheaper the better for me honestly. I think it would sell out fairly quickly. I just assumed it's cheaper to make or a similar cost to make as the 28-75.

Is the 28-75 a lot better or just as good as the 24-70?
@WhiteMic
@WhiteMic 5 жыл бұрын
I mean the 28-75 is awesome, having owned both I don’t think you’d notice any difference but I’m sure on the charts the 24-70 has a very very slight edge but nothing you’d notice in the real world. The 28-75 is also lighter and uses a more standard filter size. Go with the 28-75, you’ll be happy.

This lens will kill Canon's EOS-M/EF-S line! On a A6400, this is a 27-42mm f2.8 - good alternative to the EF-S 17-55 f2.8.

I personally have used the Sigma 18-35 1.8 in the past, it's a great lens, though it doesn't give you much reach. It's going to be a great fit even for the crop sensor cameras, I'm really looking forward to it!

Why 17-28... why not 18-26... Just wondering...
@WhiteMic
@WhiteMic 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I could be wrong but I think it has everything to do with keeping the same form factor of the lens and not leaving any gaps in your lens range, so on the subject of 26mm vs 28mm, you're leaving 1mm on the table if you use this with a 28-75 RXD. Now on the topic of 18mm vs 17mm, I'd say they probably would have liked to go 16mm but since they couldn't without changing the overall mass of the lens, 17mm was the next best thing. I personally don't mind that extra 1mm over the 18mm.
