Tank at The Roaches | Peak District Hikes | Secret Location | Hidden | Secret Spots | Sightseeing

A 6 mile hike to the hidden Peak District tank near The Roaches. This is such a cool spot but please be careful, some of the land is MOD and there are warning signs explaining of the dangers in the area. As always, I take no responsibility for any visits or injuries here and please only do so if you feel completely comfortable. If you are spending all day in the area, I would definitely recommend going to see Luds Church / The Roaches and Hen Cloud too. (Videos coming soon) I have read that the Mermaid pool on top of The Roaches is a wild swimming spot, its wet and you could get in it, but its a bit sludgy for me. I would love to know if any of you do go in it though.
I parked just below the roaches, postcode ST13 8UB, but like I say in the video if you want less of an adventure there are probably closer places to park, you know I love it all, the hike, the exploring; the tank was just the icing on the cake for me.
This is not a walk I would recommend for children.

I’m glad you enjoyed it.. it’s a bit of a different route for me, a lot of fun though, and off the beaten path which I like. 😁😁 deffo check it out one day 😇

FYI, the tank is a rare Ram 2 manufactured from 1941 to 1943 by the Montreal Locomotive Works in Quebec.

Ah the joys of Leek! Lol that place has its own weather system 😂 those buildings are used in urban warfare training along with the tank! Nice video mate👍

@@barefoot_ventures I’m normally working if I’m that side of the A53 near stake gutter 😬 however I did discover the Roaches from being up there, one of my favourite places to visit 🤙🏻👊🏻

I see u took long way but easy one 😄 I took short way but extremely hard one as all the way to the Sherman terrain was wet and sticky and in some places my foot went under muck literally almost to the knee 🥴 But it was fun experience 🌞

Yeh I knew there is always plenty of good parking at the roaches, plus it’s not far from the roaches. I like at least a bit of a walk when I go out 🤣

I never realised there was a track going across that way, that's my weekend walk planned thanks :) Think I'll cheat and park by Ramshaw rocks though. Have you seen the face that is carved into it?

Yeh could park there if you wanted a shorter walk and no I haven’t .. I’ll have to have a look next time I’m up that way 😁😁
