its a temporary pool, to dump the tanker into. the engine stays there with a suction line in the pool-s while the tanker-s keep going back to get more, that way there is a constant flow of water
@scottdore44587 жыл бұрын
Is that truck a metal fab built truck ? Its a. Nice looking unit you folks be safe up north there im a maine volunteer fire officer and a thank you for posting this its so neat to see how much difference s there is in each region like helmets and such but in a lot of ways we are veryl similar as well
Thats a nice feature, is there a discharge port on the port side too? And was this a pond draft? Water looks a bit... like melted snow rolling along a dirt road. :)

I thought this was recommended to me because I’m a firefighter, but I guess since y’all’s here I’ll take the time to drop some facts on you. This is called a tank dump, and it’s typically used when there is no way of getting water at a fire scene, such as there being little to no hydrant coverage, or pools, lakes, rivers, etc. are too far away to be used by engines/pumpers on scene. Tankers (or water tenders if you live somewhere with air support) begin a relay system going back and forth between water supply and scene to replenish the scene’s water supply in those yellow portable drop tanks as shown in this video.

Our area is pretty rural, as the other two districts in the tri district area. Our department has 6 Engines, 3 Rescues, a Squad, and a Polaris. I don't know how many Engines and Squads the other two departments have, ours is the only to utilize Rescues rather than dispatching an Engine for every EMS call, but none of the departments have tankers. There's no need. Where there are no hydrants, there are ponds or lakes. Not every rural/suburban department has tankers. They have what they need.

what you see there is a portable pond its part of whats called a "tanker shuttle". you have 3- 10 tankers all go to different water sources ie, ponds, rivers, other hydrants, the neighbors swimming pool (my favorite lol). and they all dump their loads in that yellow pond its then sucked up by an engine and poured on the fire....this system can supply more water than one hydrant alone

Yeah. I'm not bashing, it's just one of those "who cares, just get the water there" type things. Lol. This past new years, we had firefighters fully bunked while fighting the fire, engineers and water supply either had their pants on or wore standard clothing. It just all depends. Personally, either or is fine with me, but I'm not a chief. Lol

No sir, portable ponds are not standard equipment on engines. In rural communities that do not have hydrants and own tankers they are pretty much standard equipment on the tanker but there is no need for them at all in communities with hydrants. There may be a rural fire co. somewhere that has equipped its engine with a portable pond, but that is not a standard configuration. Check out the video "Crystal Fire Dept's New Tanker."

That One Guy With a Oreck - Grab yourself a filter, be safe and healthy. This is the clearest sign for the people that in the RICHEST country in the world, and most "advanced" they can't even properly filter water. See? The corruption is THAT bad at the top. The money is there, but the desire to help the citizens isn't. Greed. Corruption. And deceit is what sits in office today. And its good people like yourselves whom suffer. God bless :)
