When I was playing fallout 3, I tried to like Plasma guns but they really moved way too slow to accurately and consistently hit your target, vs the instant point and click of lasers who could also get the laser focuser and scatter shot upgrades with one of my mods :) (weapon modkits?) The accuracy and power(with multi-shot) of lasers made them the better weapon in my playthrough.

TheDesertScrub I loved the hunting rifle and Abe's repeater with a scope, but I got to the point where lasers were cheap to run, and more powerful. (this was where I fought the Enclave in FO3, so pretty much endgame.) plus you can't beat a pinpoint accurate scatter laser for damage :)
