Tanzania is set to export electricity to Zambia once the ongoing construction of a new $520 million transmission line is complete. Recently, Tanzania began feeding electricity from its 2,115-megawatt Nyerere Hydropower Project into its national grid, surpassing the country's domestic consumption needs.

@tanzanite9944 it was expected that Tanzania would bring petty politics to the project. Kenya has connected it's power grid to Uganda and Ethiopia as part of what the report said is a project to connect the regions power grids. Tanzania switched off it's generators while it could be selling power to it's neighbors and earning good foreign exchange. Socialism did you guys bad one, ubinafsi mbele ya maendeleo. Anyway Kenya is building new power plants and updating existing ones to meet it's needs. In the meantime Ethiopia and Uganda are selling power to Kenya. Learn from the Chinese, stop petty politics and prioritize economic relations which mutually benefit everyone.

@@jaymchelsea2839 Didn't you hear Tanzania is set to sell electricity to Zambia? Which 'Ubinafsi' are you talking about? Not selling to Kenya Does not mean is not selling to other countries. Shida ya Kenya ni UKORA Mwingi.. If you think Tanzania has Petty politics, what about Kenya agreeing and actually Begging Tanzania to build a pipeline through Mombasa for Gas but Kenya govt could not Construct a pipeline on its side to date? Uhuru Kenyata promised to construct Gas Pipeline and actually thanked Tanzania for providing Natura and Cheap Gas to Kenya but he was out of the office before starting the project. Now your New President Ruto is saying it's not his Priority to build Gas pipeline to the LungaLunga/Horohoro border with Tanzania. So which country between Tanzania and Kenya has Petty politics?

@jaymchelsea2839 Ай бұрын
@@tanzanite9944 Continue selling to Zambia, I guess selling more to earn more income is not the Ujamaa style. Just enough to survive not thrive. As for the gas project, there is a huge gas plant being built right now in Mombasa which belongs to a Tanzanian gas billionaire for selling gas to the Kenyan market. You got it wrong, the previous regime frustrated his efforts to protect their businesses but the current regime has allowed him to start the project(it's almost over). Wakenya si wakora, watanzania ndio wavivu. Ukideal na mtu mkora unakuwa mjanja si kuteta kila saa. You have restricted sale of products like maize, onions, tomatoes etc to Kenya due to these allegations za ukora. Fortunately, it has allowed Kenyan farmers to step up and fill the gap, in addition we now import food products from willing sellers in Uganda and Ethiopia. Ask yourself why a large, peaceful and resource-rich nation like Tanzania is not super wealthy or an economic powerhouse. I applaud the development done by Magufuli, for example the Dar bridge and Nyerere power station but Tanzanians need to learn how to prioritize economic relations which benefit them over petty politics. Most of Kenyans, including myself acknowledge that Tanzania is on the right path economically and are happy to have a rich neighbor as it will open new markets and other economic opportunities.

East African countries are really small 😅😅😅. No wonder they’re so manageable How can the total energy demand in a whole country be just 1640mw?? 😂 That’s less than what a city needs in Nigeria 🇳🇬, and we have well over 40 cities!

As you said East African countries are literally smaller in development that’s why less energy is consumed compared to other kudos African countries. But they will be the biggest economy hub of Africa after the coming years. Example Ethiopia economy is booming, in just 5 years time doubled its GDP. The demand for electricity goes like wise. Currently only great renaissance dam of Ethiopia which built in Nile river and the biggest dam in the whole Africa produces 6000 megawatts of electricity which also doubles its existing power capacity.
